Guessing ST will put up a new post after practice?

Congrats to Torres and Paredes. Your hard work paid off!!

Congrats to Mike Tresler, one half of that dynamic duo, along with Mento Maeva. I loved watching them play.

I like Coach Tormey’s outlook: Big time is where you are.

Hope his efforts pay off big time for the team this season.

Going from $15,000 to $1 million is a huge price increase!

Schools eyeing a jump to NCAA Division I might have to dig deeper into their pockets.

The NCAA is weighing a number of new conditions to join its richest, highest-profile division, including an application fee of as much as $1 million. Reclassifying schools now pay $15,000.

One of the new Board members played football for UH and at least some people here will remember him.

The University of Hawai‘i Foundation has elected Michael Tresler and Brandt Farias to its Board of Trustees.

Michael Tresler is the Senior Vice President of Grove Farm Company, Inc. headquartered in Lihue. He joined the company in 2007 as vice president. Previously he served as Kaua‘i County’s finance director. Prior to that, he worked as director of finance for the American Heart Association, Hawai‘i chapter.

Tresler earned a BBA ’91 in accounting from UH Mānoa and is a certified public accountant. He played football for UH Mānoa from 1987-90. Currently Tresler is a coach for the Kaua‘i High School football team and serves on the Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative’s nominating committee. He has also served as the Kaua‘i Police Activities League (KPAL) president since 2007. His other affiliations have included the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce and the Kaua‘i Economic Development Board’s renewable energy committee.

This should reduce the price of high-speed internet access on Maui (competition is always good for the consumer).

Even more interesting to me is that the same equipment will be used in Maui and Oahu, so it is possible that laptops with Clearwire or Sprint service would get internet access on both islands.

Women’s boxing will be included at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, the president of the International Olympic Committee announced Thursday.

A men’s class will likely be axed to make room for three women’s weight categories at London 2012, the UK Press Association reported.

Women will compete in the flyweight 48-51kg class, lightweight 56-60kg and middleweight 69-75kg, the agency said.
