As good as Brown became, he still had a major problem with the rain and wet ball against New Mexico … I think we lost the game because of his inability to grip the ball. On the other hand, you have a pro type QB (6-4 Cole McDonald) with sprinter speed coming off a redshirt freshman year. As a senior he passed for over 2,300 yards and rushed for nearly 1,100. That’s a true dual threat. So I think you have to open up the competition … including for Cole Brownholtz and Kyle Gallup.

That all said, a QB with 10 games experience as a successful starter is hard to ignore. I’m still guessing we will see Brown as the starter for the next two years and then McDonald taking over for the subsequent two years. If there is a change … it will be earned the hard way on the field.
