Goeas set to join Warriors
Colton Goeas, a 2013 Saint Louis School graduate and former Kansas linebacker, is set to join the Warriors this fall. But whether he will be eligible to play this coming season is awaiting a ruling from the NCAA.
Goeas is petitioning for an exemption to a rule requiring a transferring player to establish one-year, full-time “residency” at his new school before being eligible to play. Goeas was at Kansas for the 2013 and 2014 seasons before moving back to Hawaii to work on his grades.
He took online classes through Kansas during the 2015 fall semester, then worked — and worked out — the past spring semester. He has gained admission into UH for the 2016-2017 academic year.
“It’s worth a try,” his father, former UH player Leo Goeas, said of the petition.
IF the petition is denied, Colton Goeas would join the Warriors at the start of the fall semester and redshirt this season. After that, he would have a season of eligibility remaining.
The elder Goeas said his son is 6 feet 2 and 243 pounds. Colton Goeas projects to compete at middle linebacker or defensive end.

Once again, mahalo to Anonymous, our generous donor.
Thanks again for playing.
Not a bad way to start the day!
I just hope the NCAA rewards Colton for the hard work he has put in to be academically qualified.
It would be nice to have him for two years of eligibilty. Welcome Colton!
Hard to faith when leaving things in the hands of the ncaa.
establishing residency is like using a “red shirt” year? No? Yes?
if yes, Colton would have 2 years of eligibility?
or, does the “bell toll” upon admission to UH?
great to have former players return to pledge the Green & White!
Wanna wish Warrior #19 DB Jalen Rogers a Happy Birthday today. Hope you have a great day and an even greater football season. Let’s Go Bows!!!
Great Afternoon All!
Good news about Mr. Goeas! Hopefully the appeal is successful.
ever notice that most of the winners are “lurkers”?
nothing wrong with that — just thought interesting.
one and done — unsure if that’s beneficial to the team/players
certainly could be morale factor for those who have been putting out all these years
conversely, if the one ‘n done is a good/great player and the position is thin it may be most beneficial to the over all win/loss record.
I think it will “test” the coaching ability to make the other players feel it’s OK
RE: #8
A-House — the prize winners mostly lurk but they have been with us for at least 4 years. Anyway, if you, me, DPK, or Akamai Okole won, it would probably look suspicious. 🙁
Colton can at least play on the scout team if he’s not eligible
Season ticket sales begin Monday. You get six games this year instead of the seven in 2015 and 2014.

Was hoping that with a new face up there….that the new season ticket sales…would use the trip down under to generate sum sales as a promotion… but me guess the new face has not had time to revamp the sales n marketing up there n their dismal e-mail dept……must be the worst in all of div I…II… n III sports
dept….
Just imagine next e-mail…subject line…UH Athletics…..H-mail: News & Discounts…..old…& New…..Win a trip for two to Australia…just 99 bucks for season tickets…you automatically qualify if you are already a season ticket holder… etc…etc…etc…click here for the small print…why can’t sum one up there make it work ?…..I sure hope they would do better n not like at m\Michigan… n least find room n transportation to n from the game… n take care their fans….Rolo n coaches have been making big changes from what me read on here… n showing care n respect for the fans….why can’t the sales n marketing dept. do the same…to lazy maybe ? Auwe…
UH could save money and be more effective if they eliminated
their sales and marketing staff for sports. Then like in business,
solicit campaigns and ideas from outside advertising agencies
🙂
