Got 11 hours till KO at 11 pm. Twins grandsons bd party will take up some time-Cub game some time and a dozen or so games will take up some time-long wait! Just get us a win!!!

  3. orioles4eva October 10, 2015 7:17 am

Lets go BOWS, lets go BOWS.

  4. Ipu Man October 10, 2015 7:30 am

Neat, SDSU has their own airplane—
UH should build its own flying saucer 🙂
And let the football fly tonight!

  5. Hank October 10, 2015 8:10 am

If anyone could use their own plane it would be us.

  6. Hank October 10, 2015 8:10 am

It’s too bad we don’t motion Ewaliko anymore and use him on end arounds.

  7. Hank October 10, 2015 8:12 am

Will one of my favs Gener play tonight? We could use his leadership.

  8. Maddog50 October 10, 2015 8:33 am

Today is a about imposing one’s will! Please be aware of the screen we have been burnt by the and USU so many x. Gotta have this one. No doubt!

  9. Chris October 10, 2015 9:03 am

That is not the plane the SDSU football team took LOL. It would be in the bottom of the ocean if they did take that. Football teams take much larger planes than that when flying across the mainland 48 states, and a semi to carry most of its gear and equipment. When flying to Hawaii, it must pack all of that equipment in the plane. Therefore, they have to take an even larger plane than they normally do.

Haha at anyone who actually thought this plane is big enough to fly to Hawaii, let alone carry a 100+ person football team and all of its equipment and luggage.

  10. kev-1 October 10, 2015 9:03 am

That’s not SDSU’s own airplane. It belongs to an airlines, and it is marketed for the team. Other teams have similar deals. UH could enter into similar negotiations with airlines to do the same, but that probably takes mucho dinero.

  11. Fat Jeff October 10, 2015 9:05 am

Nice looking plane, it’s part of Alaska Airlines fleet.

    http://worldairlinenews.com/2012/05/31/horizon-air-introduces-the-sdsu-aztecs-logoplane/

  12. kev-1 October 10, 2015 9:12 am

Hawaiian Airlines Field at Aloha Stadium, yet no can hook us up with a ride. That’s how it is HA?????

  13. lawaia October 10, 2015 9:15 am

Just Win! Imua Na Koa Anuenue.

  14. Da Puncbowl Kid October 10, 2015 9:21 am

    Looking for that win today!

    GO WARRIORS!!!

  15. 3-Prong October 10, 2015 9:39 am

Yup, just find a way to win. All 3 phases have to contribute.

Let’s Go Bows!! Today is the day!

  16. Boolakanaka October 10, 2015 9:50 am

I thought that was incorrect SDSU owning their own plane. The basic overhead for such a craft would be upwards of 500k, and that is even before it got off the ground (fuel) or the lease contract. Variable costs per hour, would run between 4K and 6k, per hour.

  17. oneseason October 10, 2015 9:54 am

UH Rainbow Warrior mascot versus SDSU Aztec Warrior mascot might be a great half-time competition to help develop an engaging rivalry … if UH had a mascot. http://www.goaztecs.com/view.gal?id=19798

  18. cocobean October 10, 2015 10:32 am

If Al Davis were alive today his advice to our offensive woes would be ….”just score, baby.”

  19. Stephen Tsai October 10, 2015 10:33 am

Ewaliko probably isn’t playing. He didn’t practice this week because of concussion-like symptoms.

  20. Stephen Tsai October 10, 2015 10:34 am

We’ll see how the season goes but Diocemy Saint Juste probably will redshirt this season. Hammy.

  21. Stephen Tsai October 10, 2015 10:35 am

Quinton Pedroza expects to play. Methinks that Isaiah Bernard gets the start.

  22. SteveM October 10, 2015 10:44 am

    Good game day everyone!

Three new blog names appeared after I posted the Guess list at 9:13 pm last night: Phil Kissmyass, Joseph, and NoOneHere. They are new blog names and are time stamped hours earlier. This is probably an example of new blog names awaiting clearance by the blog admin. So if your guess is missed the first day and you are a new poster, just post again the next day.

As far as I’m concerned, I think a post showing on the blog (and not on the list) before cutoff is a valid entry. Only problem I see is that it might be a duplicate winning guess. In this case, the blog timestamp will determine first guesser and the winner.

Also, the list will will start tomorrow–on ST’s Sunday blog entry. Please, no guesses for next week until ST’s new blog.

  24. Stephen Tsai October 10, 2015 11:01 am

That’s the picture of the plane at the Boise airport. We thought it would be cool if Hawaiian Airlines painted one of its planes green with an H logo.
I remember when Jim Leahey’s motorcycle was painted in UH dark green.

  25. SteveM October 10, 2015 11:20 am

    RE: #23
ST — I was hoping they came over here on that…cramped and jet-lag without a jet. Loooong flight on a prop plane even if it had the range. 👿

  26. Stephen Tsai October 10, 2015 11:23 am

They travel on a nice charter subsidized by UH. But, hey, that’s the cost of MWC membership.

  27. Tanman October 10, 2015 11:25 am

I thought it is a SDSU private jet… Let’s go Rainbow Warriors!!! 38 to 31 win against SDSU.

  28. SteveM October 10, 2015 11:29 am

ST — did you notice my UH 747 charter idea? Ask for a 747 but settle for a DC-10. 😉
Say, I wonder if AirBus would enter that market niche?

  29. H-Man October 10, 2015 11:34 am

Really anxious about today’s game because we just don’t know which team is showing up – the one that was embarrassed by Boise St or the one that played pretty darned good against Wisconsin. Win or lose, I just want to see the Warriors show up to play good football. Go Warriors !!!

  30. SteveM October 10, 2015 12:10 pm

Time to start packing the car for the stadium.

    Go get em Pereese!

  33. st. anthony trojan October 10, 2015 2:06 pm

Boise state already 24 points …just start the second quarter….road game makes no difference their scoring machine..

  34. Don Weir October 10, 2015 2:10 pm

I am in San Diego for a Columbus Day benefit. Woke up this morning to read the local sports page to find out that most of SDSU’s injuries have healed. Running back is healthy but reporter says short passing game is suspect. QB is short arming the ball.

Talk about funding from private sources, SDSU has the Aztec Athletics Foundation. Board members are anxious to serve even if it costs a $20k buy in per year. Not a rumor since the past president was a mentor during my post BA days. Foundation Coaches show up on tv for local car agency ads/restaurant ads/etc. As I traveled around today SDSU signs for many SDSU teams on local establishments walls and in windows.
Dave Matlin, see if you can run into Dr. Cliff Bee up in the SDSU box and pick his brain before hiring for marketing!!!
    Let’s Go Bows!

  35. st. anthony trojan October 10, 2015 2:41 pm

Texas Tech….Bowling Green… Baylor… all in the 60’s 2 day… can we all hope 4 that to happen today…in our favor of course…

  36. HOSSANA October 10, 2015 3:00 pm

Hawaii will win tonight’s game….trust in me…..believe in me……UH Rainbows will win tonight’s game against San Diego St……trust in me….believe in me….UH Rainbow Warriors will prevail against San Diego St…….

  37. A-House October 10, 2015 3:16 pm

morning paper headline killed my day

with all the sassy talk from upper campus and their atty about not having to pay anything to Gib A for violating UH rules, etc.

then the deafening silence should have been a clear indication that UH will end up paying Gib boku $$$ – articles says high 6 figures

I do hope that upper campus takes the jolt on this as it was their decision to fire Arnold and it was the General Counsel’s office that wrote the contract and it was their trumpeting of nothing owed to him

UH Alabama atty is now the chief compliance officer for the NCAA and thus will have no input or create a conflict of interest

no way will UH win tonight — jmho!

but, true to all things past, they will stick the loss to the UHAD

  38. A-House October 10, 2015 3:17 pm

btw, street talk was that Hawaiian Airlines refused to paint one of their planes with the UH logo

  39. Rodney October 10, 2015 3:18 pm

MWC really piss me off .Hawaii pays for this and that.
Do we get to keep $$$ from Ohio st and Badgers game
or do MWC get a cut too?
    Lets go warriors!!!!!

  40. rundown808 October 10, 2015 3:26 pm

ST, thank you for what you do. Pray for performance and productivity today from the warriors. Coaching needs to step up and offense needs to step out. No more PUKA games. PUKA means no progress. Norm Chow we need a spark on your offense. There’s no spark. Spark leads to a flicker and flicker leads to a flame. Your receiving corp needs a BOSS to lite them on fire. It only takes one player to ignite the flame and get them going. To create opportunities for the offense. Unfortunately, there is no receivers that command that. When the defendar comes up to the line he knows who’s Boss and it ain’t him. If you got a player who can bring that to the team. It’s time to unleash him. Best to the Warriors. Shout out to SDSU DL Dakota Turner. Mililani s HS own. Welcome home baby. Bittersweet. Have a great game and don’t smash too hard. It’s always awesome to come home. Hawaii s got talent just lack of opportunity get s our players to move away or get lost in the process. Much aloha Dakota.

  41. Willie October 10, 2015 3:42 pm

K, seen SJSU twice, UNLV three times and now Colorado State once on TV. Do not see any cupcakes in these three MWC West teams that would make Warriors quest for the championship game an easy route. If anything what I have observed to date, the Warriors are more “cup cake” material than those other three mentioned. Hope that with tonight’s performance they can move further from this pastry type designation.

  42. Boolakanka October 10, 2015 3:53 pm

3 prong, cat put it on the boxers–77-10.

  43. beans October 10, 2015 3:55 pm

Let’s get behind our boys tonight. Let us be loud with our cheers not jeers!
    Go Bows. Imua!

  44. 3-Prong October 10, 2015 4:03 pm

boo: I heard. My #2 and her boyfriend who was a kicker for the ‘cats updated me. They watched on a stream. Got it rollin again this year. Pacific has been loading up on the local kids even more than Linfield.

  45. 3-Prong October 10, 2015 4:05 pm

    …..and GO BOWS!

  46. oneseason October 10, 2015 4:24 pm

Homecoming … $5 parking is pretty full … Looks like a good crowd … Redemption or recidivism for Coach Chow. Let’s go Bows!

  47. mytake October 10, 2015 4:54 pm

I spent $40 for my ticket, $5 for my parking. Sherrifs are hassling me about taking up too much space. I demand a win!

  48. rundown808 October 10, 2015 5:18 pm

Got that right mytake! The people have spoken chow. What’s it going to take for UH to win?

  49. z October 10, 2015 5:25 pm

I really like how Navy oline fire out on their run blocks. And their 2 fullbacks really run hard.

  50. z October 10, 2015 5:33 pm

    Runningbacks not running hard enough.

  51. z October 10, 2015 6:15 pm

    Our safety oopso.

  52. Chopsueyboy October 10, 2015 6:15 pm

The heat at Disneyland killed us today, 100 degrees. Bright side, left the park early for a/c comfort of our hotel, and I get to listen to the game. Go Rainbow Warriors!

  53. oneseason October 10, 2015 6:23 pm

    9:10 left in quarter 1 … UH 0 – 14 SDSU

  54. seewhy October 10, 2015 6:31 pm

    Typical UH start…

  55. Moocher October 10, 2015 6:32 pm

looks like SDSU just wants it more.
UH looks like they have given up… hope they can each find something deep inside and play like warriors.

  56. Markazulu October 10, 2015 6:32 pm

If the running game doesn’t get going and the defense looks like they’re gonna have a long game.

  57. oneseason October 10, 2015 6:52 pm

    Touchdown UH! Within 7

In case anyone on the mainland needs a stream, this one has been perfect so far.
However, it’s apparently blacked out in the Islands, and can’t be viewed on mobile devices. (Watching on a PC now, and it also works on a laptop.)

If the link above doesn’t work, it’s http://www.campusinsiders.com, under the LIVE list.

  59. Markazulu October 10, 2015 7:03 pm

Anyone find it amazing that we could possibly get Utah and tcu in the 4 team playoff system.

  60. iwonderwhytheyhateme October 10, 2015 7:04 pm

On that trick play the receiver to use is a Stubblefied or Ewaliko. But u know, whatever.

  61. UHfan808 October 10, 2015 7:07 pm

    Hi Tsai-kos!

It’s homecoming night and I’m pau performing my flags routines with the current and alumni band so UH fb and WB get my full attention now 🙂

    Hehe

    GO WARRIORS!!!

    Beat SDSU!!!

  62. iwonderwhytheyhateme October 10, 2015 7:16 pm

It’s funny how Don Bailey’s vaunted high-powered offense that he is calling entirely and uninterfered with looks a lot like Chow’s offense the past 3 years. Hehehe Hahaha Hehehe Hahaha.

  63. Chopsueyboy October 10, 2015 7:20 pm

Mahalo Kepola for the link. They have a block on mobile devices. Waiting for wife to get off laptop.

  64. Chopsueyboy October 10, 2015 7:23 pm

Listening to UH game while watching Utah – Cal game. Why does their turf look so good on tv and Aloha Stadium’s field color is so drab?

  65. Warrior Fan October 10, 2015 7:51 pm

Watching Trevor Davis play for Cal makes me wonder why we let him go SMH.. Also since Chow took over we’ve always struggled with our QB’s.. It’s unfortunate for us Hawaii fans but Chow might be fired after this loss tonight SMH

  66. PONO October 10, 2015 7:59 pm

This offense is boring, Norm sucks. End of story good night.

  67. rundown808 October 10, 2015 8:41 pm

Keeping hope alive. Whittek out with knee injury Woosley in. We toast!

  68. cappie the dog October 10, 2015 9:07 pm

    65.

    I visited the Cal website.

    Davis looks really happy.

  69. Jack Aloha October 10, 2015 9:08 pm

Coach Norm Chow- the game has passed you by and it’s time to move on. Thank you for your service.
If UH were smart they would name a new interim coach asap tomorrow. We can’t take anymore of this.

  70. seewhy October 10, 2015 9:09 pm

    Time to go home.

  71. z October 10, 2015 9:20 pm

Team still broken. Need a real Mr Fixit. I don’t see it.

  72. Warrior Fan October 10, 2015 9:21 pm

Good bye Coach Chow. Thank you for your service. Now who will be our next head coach?

  73. mo808 October 10, 2015 9:24 pm

I swear… I am beside myself! We can’t even game plan to win today’s UH home game?! I am sooo over it! I’ve been sicker than a dog the whole freaken week…then dragged my ashtray to the stadium to watch this?! Chow needs to leave, period! Or, I will not renew my season tickets. I am so over his BS!

  74. kimo browner October 10, 2015 9:24 pm

Hate to say it, but Hawaii’s football program is katsu. Sad, we do not have leadership.

  75. mo808 October 10, 2015 9:29 pm

Thank you Rainbow Warrors for giving your all today! I love and appreciate you!

  76. st. anthony trojan October 10, 2015 9:29 pm

Just wait till next week…YOU WILL SEE WE ARE CHASING CHAMPIONSHIPS…

  77. SC October 10, 2015 9:34 pm

Punahou losers. Football and basketball. Hahahahah.

  78. Come on, Man! October 10, 2015 9:36 pm

I think UH get chance against mililani. It’ll be a pretty close game, though.

  79. Jack Aloha October 10, 2015 9:36 pm

Players- you are talented and appreciated!
Coaches- time to pack your things. You are horrible.

  80. Moocher October 10, 2015 9:36 pm

I bet if Tsai ever took a poll on his blog 80%+ would vote to remove Chow.

I also bet if Tsai took a poll on this blog 50%+ will say it seems as if Bailey’s offence looks ohhh so similar to what we have seen since day 1 of Chow time.

The thing is, is Chow leaves on his own terms right now and steps down, he will save face and have the respect of the people. If he stays and this team has a losing season, respect will turn to hate and thats the not the way to go.

Thanks for the effort Mr. Chow, but it just is not working. Please have an exit strategy ready or the fans and the AD will have one for you. This isn’t about quitting on the team, it’s about pointing them in the right and different direction and giving them a chance to enjoy THEIR time.

Sorry gang, but this is really about a CEO knowing when it is time to step down.

  81. hitmanhart October 10, 2015 9:41 pm

28-14 we lose again !! time for change the head coach !! game has past him bye !!
chow is only about one player and one player only !! max is not that good !! as chow made out to be god !! he got a good arm i give that !! but no touch as cant hit a wide open guy down da field !!

  82. obachan October 10, 2015 9:46 pm

    Previously – It’s Chow time!
    Currently – It’s ciao time!

  83. SC October 10, 2015 9:51 pm

Homers. Some including Gary, Bobby and Chris thought bowl game. Yes. Toilet bowl. Hahaha

  84. MattyBoy October 10, 2015 9:52 pm

Chow please step down! Please. If not then please please fire Chow. I can’t understand how any admin from any university would allow Chow to continue to coach. He’s horrible.

  85. iwonderwhytheyhateme October 10, 2015 9:54 pm

I am officially, as of tonight, on the FIRE NORM CHOW bandwagon.

Come Monday, we should release Chow of his duties and install either Bailey or Mason as interim and begin the search for new HC immediately. As for the $$$ issue, we have will just have to suck it up and add to our deficit for the longer term health of the program.

This team has not progressed. There has been zero improvements game-to-game and I have no hope in the current head coach righting this ship. We may win a couple more games but I don’t see us having a winning season.

  86. warriorfan October 10, 2015 9:55 pm

Horrible results, horrible attendance, time to start packing your bags Chow.

  87. st. anthony trojan October 10, 2015 9:55 pm

    Last week… below 30 % complete…
    This week about 40%
    2 int’s
    8 punts…

    Can’t win like that…
Hey dude…if he can’t plant his feet…put sumone in that can…
    Like Wagoner said….stop the excuses…you suck coach….
The warriors are not prepared… n show no confidence at their home field…

  88. greenthumb October 10, 2015 9:57 pm

Players, thank you for trying. We know this is not the result you wanted.

  89. SC October 10, 2015 10:02 pm

Let’s place our efforts on the Toilet bowl.

  90. mo808 October 10, 2015 10:03 pm

I agree with iwonderwhytheyhateme! Fire Chow! Fire him! Pay him off and set him on his way! We have to re-group and get back on track! I’m soo over the mediocrity of Chow’s kind of game?

  91. kev-1 October 10, 2015 10:04 pm

Just like I said last week…

    FIRE HIS A$$ NOW!!!!

  92. z October 10, 2015 10:06 pm

Got to know that Wittek won’t last the season on one leg. Maybe time to look for another starter. Wittek can back up.

  93. kev-1 October 10, 2015 10:09 pm

I don’t believe for one minute that this is Bailey’s offense. If he is calling plays, he’s only calling the ones Chow tells him too. I say you get rid of Chow YESTERDAY, turn the team over to whoever and let’s see Bailey run the offense that has been advertised.

You know, the one that was supposed to be spread out and up tempo. Anyone that pays any attention to Chow’s philosophy knows he doesn’t believe in that. This anemic offense has Chow written all over it.

  94. oneseason October 10, 2015 10:10 pm

I don’t understand why Chow would put, or agreed to put, an injured Wittek in at the end of the game. Down by 14 points with literally seconds left, and you risk your very dinged up number one QB? The odds of reaching a bowl game this year are getting pretty long for Norm Chow.

  95. kev-1 October 10, 2015 10:12 pm

AND I refuse to believe that our receivers came here that bad. Get rid of that poor excuse of a receivers coach too. He is making them worse.

  96. Come on, Man! October 10, 2015 10:12 pm

“I’m soo over the mediocrity of Chow’s kind of game?”

norm chow led teams aren’t mediocre. they’re terrible. they’ve consistently ranked near the bottom of almost every major statistical category on offense for the past 3 1/2 years. The team has done nothing but lose and look absolutely awful while doing it. and you can’t just blame the offense either. the vaunted UH defense isn’t that good.

    Chow needs to go, immediately.

  97. iwonderwhytheyhateme October 10, 2015 10:16 pm

    Kev-1,

    Spooooooot On!

This is NOT Bailey’s offense. It’s the exact same 1 back, 1 TE set that we have been using for the past 3 years. He can continue to say how he has total control but this has Norm’s blueprints all over it. He doesn’t want to throw Chow under the bus and admit that Chow has him on a choke chain. Ridiculous.

This is one of the greatest examples of shuffling chairs on the titanic.

  98. st. anthony trojan October 10, 2015 10:29 pm

Their is no motivation….really…with Chow as head ne more…

No offence really…with a game plan that can n will work…
One legged QB…no mobility…no accuracy passing.. n this is the result…

    Give their coaches credit…
    They prepared well…

  99. Moocher October 10, 2015 10:30 pm

If I were Chow…I’d be calling other coaches and friends I know and confidentially ask them if they would be willing to finish out the season. Also, I think the AD better have a chat with Miano for starters.

For the interim, realistically we are not going to attract a coach that is actively coaching unless it is from a local high school or on the current staff. Alternatively, we might have shot at former coaches who are “on the sidelines” right now.

    just my opinion….

  100. st. anthony trojan October 10, 2015 10:35 pm

He spent 20 + years up in the booth…
The head coach would not let him down on the field…
HE would not recommend him for the head coaching job…
NOW WE KNOW THE REAL STORY…WHY SO…

  101. hitmanhart October 10, 2015 10:51 pm

one person that just waiting !! for them to fire chow !! is JJ and he would win with team !! and coaching staff !! one thing 4 sure max no would be he,s qb

  102. H-Man October 10, 2015 10:55 pm

Time for a head coaching change. I am sick of seeing this same offense year in, year out since Chow’s arrival.

  103. CMONMAN!!! October 10, 2015 10:56 pm

could’ve done better tonight! good fight just fell short!

  104. oneseason October 10, 2015 10:56 pm

Next year’s $250K buyout seems like a steal compared to the near certain loss in another 2000+ season ticket sales. UH sure seems mum on this year’s sales.

  105. rundown808 October 10, 2015 11:01 pm

Same ole same ole as many have seen. Micromanagement does nothing. Except focus on recruiting better players and pay attention to their skill level to get the job done. Going for size does nothing and the old NFL mentality is bigger is better. Looking the part isn’t being the part. Chow comes from the old regime. The game has changed and players too. Training, technique, speed n quickness, tactical training, etc…. No such thing as off season anymore. No such thing as just football players. They become athletes more skilled then ever. With camps and combines, they expose great talent and teach them a skill set along the way. So pay attention when recruiting. Multi sport player? Combine times, character, and how they really play their position. Because stats don’t always prove their true worth. Any HS coach can package up a player and make them look good on paper or film. But look at them running football drills in a combine. That is the test. Watch them move. From start to finish. Most of those drills are there to expose weaknesses. But if you have a player that breezes thru the drills then that gives you an idea of their worth. Why do you think there is a NFL Combine? To check every point in person.
UH needs to scout better players. Check your football camps and combines, D2 and JC and UH try outs. You never know what your gonna get.

  106. greenthumb October 10, 2015 11:06 pm

#103. In his game recap, Arnett reports crowd at 25,643. If that’s turnstile, wonder how many more tickets were issued? Also wonder how many homecoming-combo tickets were bought (bundle of football ticket with admission to Friday and Sunday Wahine volleyball). That bundle seemed pretty deeply discounted, and had a chance for further percentages off.

  107. cocobean October 10, 2015 11:09 pm

I was at the game I really want to see the replay. It seemed SDSU was bringing six on every pass play. They lined up with 3 down and one standup rush end covering from tackle to tackle and brought two blitzers from different positions. Six rushers coming from different positions against our six static blockers don’t add up to much time for our pass plays to develop.

  108. Raider Dogs October 10, 2015 11:32 pm

Wittek and Collie played hard to the end. The other receivers need to get a gut check. From what I saw at the end of the game they gave up. They walked to the line to set up, not running their routes thru, and even not knocking down the defensive back when he was going to intercept the ball why try to tackle get the penalty at least you will have the ball. Too bad the coaches probably gave up too. Hopefully Matlin stayed to the end to see and hear the boos coming from the crowd.

  109. Boya_jr October 10, 2015 11:36 pm

Chow is pau already. Time to try something else. Malin and Coach please do the right thing.

  110. oneseason October 10, 2015 11:41 pm

I hope UH leaves plenty of time to review Chow’s contract before deciding how to proceed. It sounds like the Arnold termination without cause is going to cost UH the better part of $1M to settle.

  111. st. anthony trojan October 10, 2015 11:50 pm

After watching the replay coco…still be the same…they did their homework…watching the Boise film… QB is not mobile…

Don’t fire Chow…just relieve him of his duties…give him a desk sum where n ask him to raise funds…he he he…the intern should be from staff now…n give him the one year contract 4 next year…n if he does good n takes us to a bowl game next year…let him go…like they did the basketball coach…n hire sumone else…

  112. cocobean October 10, 2015 11:51 pm

I’m at every home game. This is a different offense but the results have been the same. I see this as a spread offense based on play action. It’s supposed to be up tempo to keep the D from making subs and getting defensive calls from the sidelines. I think the goal for the O was to run their plays in 17 secs or less to keep the D off balance and guessing what’s coming at them. If we can’t go up tempo we’re a pretty simple offense to defend. The RB is the only running option. You don’t have to account for the QB. You can dial up any type of pass rush you want as there’s no draws, delay runs, shovel passes, bubble screens or QB draws to defend. We haven’t shown any max protect formations.

  113. clyde October 11, 2015 12:05 am

The team is pretty banged up; saw several on the bench like Harris and Fonua. Then Unga exited early; many others were limping on and off the field. That included Julian Gener, the game’s MVP. The guy has no quit in him. Thought I saw him in a red jersey earlier in the week, but he played his heart out (think he was escorted from the field 2 or 3 times), and finished with 19 tackles, including 14 solos. A real Warrior.
Two big first-half plays: Wittek, off a flea-flicker, overthrew a wide-open Bernard that could have resulted in an 81-yard TD and allowed UH to tie the score at 14. On the flip side, SDSU QB hit a wide-open receiver for a 58-yard TD that made it 21-7 at the half. Huge swing.

  114. hitmanhart October 11, 2015 12:38 am

what make it more sick is that know that he going for it to try and keep uh in the game ! and what does he do run, run, run, then try to pass on 4th down !! what a joke !! trying to speed up the offence only been killing his defence !! oh boi even high school get better coaching going on !!

  115. iwonderwhytheyhateme October 11, 2015 12:39 am

    Cockbean,

Sorry but respectfully disagree with. This isn’t a new offense. Chow was all about the play-action. He even said that our run game would be a focal point to set up the play action.

The only difference is that it may go faster but the routes and formations are the same with the exception of an occasional TE that sets up wide. I have not seen a true spread attack yet.

  116. iwonderwhytheyhateme October 11, 2015 12:40 am

Ok…cocobean, not roosterbean. Actually pretty fricken funny but I didn’t mean it lol. I hate my iPhone.

  117. st. anthony trojan October 11, 2015 12:47 am

well at least sum of us can smile her..even after another loss….good to keep sense of humor…with chows o fence… always laughing till it hurts…

  118. hitmanhart October 11, 2015 12:58 am

hard for sleep !! when you look at uh on paper and what have !! and put up at the most 14 points !! is sad !! a blue chip qb !! yea right only king blue is max knee,s !! sad to say !! they got a good team !! just this coach is killing the program at hawaii !!

  119. RainbowCliff October 11, 2015 2:23 am

    Just plain SAD !

How much MORE true UH fans has to take with this horrible wanna be head coach. For this LOSING to keep mounting like this year after year just say’s that Hawaii is so scrap for money that they can’t muster a buy out for Chow to just “GO AWAY” !

No one to blame but the past and present leaders at UH who hired not only Chow, but the vindictive Arnold who is also looking for more money. Both of them together are spineless LOSERS and you can see by their demeanor they have no honor or respect. The right thing for Chow to do is resign but this stubborn mule will do no such thing as he will take this once proud program to the pits of DESTRUCTION with a long haul returning to it’s once glory days.

The man should of been gone LONG tome ago but his embarrassing contract of ANY amount has stricken the financial woes between both upper and lower campus. Quality players won’t come play for a losing program. IF Chow can last this entire season as he knows there are not too many supporters in his camp, then he is truly has football angels around him as Hawaii fans keep suffering game after game. Just a HORRIBLE situation that won’t get any better until he is release from his duties. Better said then done !

  120. Warrior Fan October 11, 2015 3:01 am

I really thought this was going to be the turning point for our team. This has been a consistent theme with our warriors tho with Chow as the head coach. Defense & team looks good for the first couple games of the season.. Then the Defense starts to get exposed. I think Chow should resign like what Mack did.. But idk if that’s going to fix the problem. I mean what head coach would be willing to coach UH with minimum finances and also mediocre facilities making it tough too recruit.. I know people want JJ but that’s not a good choice in my opinion. We have talented players.. It’s not the players fault at all

  121. Graham October 11, 2015 5:35 am

As bad as it has looked. I believe this team can reach a bowl game. Firing a coach mid season rarely works. But, I will say that if they do not reach a bowl game Chow has to be gone. He has been given ample time

  122. cappie the dog October 11, 2015 5:52 am

I don’t want to come off as an apologist.

When McMackin was let go, my choice for head coach was Ivin Jasper, to the derision of my family at Thanksgiving.

Given our athletic budget and facilities, I firmly believe that the triple option is the way to go.

But Hawaii sorely needed a bye.

If we had a bye coming into this week, I think Hawaii would have given a better showing.

Boise State is the best “Group of 5” team out there.

(With apologies to Toledo and the vastly underrated Bowling Green.)

After that shellacking, Hawaii needed a week to get healthy, and get their heads on straight.

This is college sports. Not the pros.

Winning would be nice, but it’s about supporting our student-athletes.

    Beat the Lobos.

C’mon, coaching staff: SALVAGE THE SEASON.

  123. rundown808 October 11, 2015 6:08 am

Sad but I’ve never seen the stands so empty. Thank you to the fans that still come out to support the games. But really, what is it going to take?
Whittek was recruited with a bum knee. That was obvious from 1st game. No mobility and he had that brace on since USC. Thus reason why he wasnt starting. Best chance he had to play was coming to UH. Then they go an add more bulk to his body. Not smart coaching. Whittek, I respect your efforts. But Chow, your re recruiting efforts are not effective. You should have hired real scouts to do the job. But again, micromanagement does nothing.

  124. Maddog50 October 11, 2015 6:31 am

I will not ever criticize the coaches or players by name-just an observation. The D played on their heels for most of the first half not all but a lot. Can not violate a basic rule of ever letting a receiver run by you he ain’t gettin a little extra exercise! Joas should return KO Bernard has to be utilized more. The OL needs some changes-it was not little mistakes at all it was error mistake and breakdowns. This roster needs to be scoured and find some on field energy-how many sacks, hurries and batted passes can one take. Still think they can win 5 more at best but not unless some changes are made-here is hoping that the changes are made. I will continue my unwavering support but reality check is overdue-Go Warriors! If they can help you win you burn the red shirt-we need wins!

  125. rundown808 October 11, 2015 6:47 am

Word to the coaches: nothing worse than having a loud mouth smack talking got an attitude receiver. PEDROZA yup talking about you. You ain’t no Dion Sanders who could back up the talk. If you gonna cause havoc on the field. Let it be your level of game. But to date, you got nothing! You got no speed or real hands, can’t get seperation to save your life or run clean crisp routes. And you wonder why the OH DB laughed in your face. I guess you talk a good game but you ain’t got no game to back it up. But you know that already. That’s why the arrogance. Seen that from day 1. You ain’t no Boss out there. A Boss commands respect at the moment he sets up at the line without a word said or attitude. Humility goes a long way homie. You should try finding some cuz you might find some talent there too.

  126. kev-1 October 11, 2015 6:55 am

People that are saying that this team can still make a bowl game … you’re basing this on what?

Chow history at UH says differently. Think of it like a business owner. If management is failing, you don’t continue to hope that it gets better. You don’t sit back and say “oh well maybe the other businesses will get worse. You fire the manager.

No, firing Chow will not save the season. BUT, it will send a message to the fans. You’d prabably have more people show up to the games to support an interim coach than you do Chow.

    Stop settling people!

A bowl game? I have seen nothing that would lead me to suspect this Chow led team can make a bowl game. We have beaten an FCS team and a Colorado team that is probably kicking itself for losing to UH.

    Seriously already.

  127. rundown808 October 11, 2015 7:21 am

Collie? Why did we recruit him again? Could it be for the white shirt and tie? Nice kid but being nice doesnt help win ball games. Why are you recruiting these players and wasting much needed scholarships for players who can play. scouting sucks. Guess we know who’s scouting, the same guy calling the plays. Will the real OC please stand up.

  128. st. anthony trojan October 11, 2015 7:38 am

MM is doing good so far…hope he keeps it up…at lest sum redemption for us fans…

  129. Old School Dave October 11, 2015 7:55 am

“Dis team bad for da blood pressure.”

Props to Julian Gener and Kennedy Tulimasealii for their outstanding efforts against SDSU. Kennedy needs more help on the D-line. Whoever is the coach next season, UH needs to be recruiting quality D-lineman, now! The Defensive coaches had the entire offseason to prepare for the Aztec RB Pomphrey, who gave them fits last season and they let him do the same thing last night. Pumphrey is only a junior. Reminded me of Marshall Faulk when he played there.

Option team this week in New Mexico.

  130. Inyoface October 11, 2015 7:58 am

It seems like 3 and outs are the norm and you pretty much expect it now. Receiver coach should be demoted!

  131. Come on, Man! October 11, 2015 8:06 am

“This is college sports. Not the pros.

Winning would be nice, but it’s about supporting our student-athletes.”

lol how quaint. this isn’t the ’60s. the greatest joke of all is the NCAA concept of amateurism. Make no mistake: Major college football is semi pro, only the players are exploited and don’t get paid while the coaches and the schools keep all the profits. Even the crap programs like the directional michigans, UNLV, most of the teams from the sun belt conference, and yes, UH football, are aspiring to be the big dawgs because of how lucrative it is.

College football is a business worth millions of dollars in revenue, from merchandise, ticket sales, TV deals, sponsorships, bowl games, and so on. The salary of coaches reflects that. When you’re paying a coach at the BARE MINUMUM, over half a million a year (base salary) and up to $6M+ a year, training facilities, medical staff, cafeteria and training tables, travel expenses, that you invest millions more into, you’re not in the game to simply “support our student-athletes.” This isn’t high school football.

Norm Chow was hired to win football games. We’re well into year four and it’s obvious that he’s extremely terrible at his job.

  132. iwonderwhytheyhateme October 11, 2015 8:49 am

One glaring example of how down our program really is and the mindset so many have taken is the constant reference to how many teams we can beat because other teams are supposedly worse than us. This is YEAR 4 and we are still looking at our season in terms of how poorly others are doing in comparison to us.

That in it of itself is frustrating yet I find myself having conditioned to think that way over the past few years.

    #FireChow

  133. iwonderwhytheyhateme October 11, 2015 8:53 am

    Inyoface,

The receivers coach has squandered the talent we were supposed to have at that position. He is doing what he can to coach the players but ultimately it is Chow’s fault for hiring someone with almost no experience. Just another Wynn experiment that hasn’t worked.

  134. RB October 11, 2015 9:06 am

Vasquez Haynes? What ever happened to him?

  135. papajoe2 October 11, 2015 9:32 am

Is the new offensive coordinator limited by Chow’s playbook/system?

  136. Bryson October 11, 2015 9:37 am

This team plays with no fire or confidence on offense this team lacks leadership at the player level as have all NC coached teams you can see it in the body language they don’t play loose they don’t look like they are having fun out there it honestly looks like they are just going through the motions very similar to watching a practice..last night was the first time in 15 seasons I left early…it’s just a terrible product being put on the field

  137. rundown808 October 11, 2015 9:41 am

Old school dave. I agree about pumphrey. Preparation. But like the saying goes speed kills. Pumphrey is small, fast, strong, and agile. Deadly combo and very athletic. Gifted. Can’t stop that kind of talent. You just have to put pressure on him and hope he buckles.

  138. Maddog50 October 11, 2015 9:45 am

#132 do not disagree with the “their worse than us” statement. That being said at some point in time the level of frustration at losing or poor performance has to boil over into “not gonna take anymore attitude” of the players-if they come after these next games defensively like they did at OSU they will get some pride and dignity back. Don’t want to hear about travel or injury everybody has to do the same, that’s the way it is. Maybe coordinators need to be at field level and do some in your face coaching don’t know but something has to happen. I do believe that at least 5 of the next 7 games are winnable but won’t happen unless some of the aforementioned takes place or something like that. And again learned a long time ago unless you score 3 x on offense your chance of winning games is slim-let’s just get it done-GO WARRIORS!

  139. Buffoman October 11, 2015 9:45 am

Didn’t Pedroza and our receivers coach play at Utah prior to coming to Hawaii?

I just don’t see Pedroza as a consistent receiver who always runs out his routes, works hard to always try to get separation and catch catchable passes. Can’t we give others a shot?

Aside of bring out of position on several plays, our defense backs appear to have forgotten to wrap up and tackle, preferring instead to run into opponents expecting them to fall down.
