Thanks for the bday wishes for my one and only Screecher. She’s now an adult. 🙄 The day started with her and a friend jumping out of an airplane. They were both scared, but after it was done, they loved it. Then it was lunch with friends at Ala Moana Genki. Came home for a while to change and relax, then back into town for dinner. I did a lot of driving today. I’m tired and very full.

It’s not about the high quality, because if you want the best football, the NFL offers that. Even the worst NFL team can slap around Alabama. (Hey, Nick Saban got slapped around pretty good when he was with the Dolphins.)

So break away. Split up. In the end, does it really matter? We’re in the middle of the Pacific hoping that something named Henrietta doesn’t blow us away. All that matters is football is fun, and Saturday evenings at Aloha Stadium can be fun. And if it’s not fun in the stadium, you can mosey across the street and have a grand ol’ time. Alcohol is the leading cause of amnesia.

And that’s going to be the biggest problem if the super conferences break away.

They’re going to play each other, they’re going to bash each other around, and you’ll end up with a lot of 9-3 or 8-4 champions.

Parity means the SEC teams are going to have to eventually play non-conference road games out of the South.

So, the super schools can resent the austere schools all they want, but they need them to puff up their records.

That’s the lesson of sports. That’s why the AL East needs the AL Central.
