We stopped buying at Albertson’s in Vegas because of this and went to Smith’s.

Sounds like Boise State sold their stadium naming rights to Albertson’s grocery chain. First Taco Bell Arena and now Albertson’s Stadium. Perfect!

#76 – let’s take it a step further. A university president with no military experience is made a general in charge of a combat division. The colonels in that division won’t have respect for the person’s knowledge of combat.

In setting a good example for students, IMHO it’s more important for a college baseball coach to have a degree than it is for a university president to have a PhD.

while its true the saimin at hamura’s is not as authentic as when the hamura’s ran the place…it sure beats all the zippy’s stuff.

todays dashi was excellent and the won tons were quite plump. but, its those bbq meat and chicken sticks that have really gone by the wayside. too much precooking and poor quality beef have ruined that side order dish.

#71 AHouse: There has been lawsuits by attorneys against attorneys – deep pockets attract lawsuits.

One of the minimum requirements for president of UH was ” Education (general, special or professional): doctorate or terminal degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.”

Terminal degree would be the last highest degree received. So if a person graduated from a university with only BA or BS, that would be a “terminal degree”. So in theory the BOR has to determine whether the applicant has an “equivalent combination of education and experience”.

So a Ph.D/Doctorate is not a condition precedent in order to apply for the job, that is, you do not have to have a Ph.D/Doctorate to apply.

However, in the world of Academia, as Boolakanaka points out, Doctors look down on someone that only has a Bachelor’s degree. Or in the Army, you don’t want a four-star general taking orders from a one-star general.

#70 I agree. The saimin is not as good. When I was a kid we used to stop at Fujii Saimin Stand in Kapaa on the way home to the North side. I remember their salmon being really good.

The hamburger s are better.
