Beck, a standout athlete in whatever sport he’s playing — was approached by coaches from overseas colleges, including SMU in Texas, University of Hawaii at Manoa, San Jose State and Oregon to play for their college teams.

He has not decided yet what college to attend, but he told Samoa News that UH would be ideal due to his many relatives and its proximity to Samoa.

After picking up his grades in the first semester, it was too late in the season for a comeback so Beck sat out the most important season of his high school career.

He is working hard to get his Grade Point Average (GPA) up.

Beck normally plays middle linebacker for Leone High School. In his freshman year, he played quarterback. As a sophomore he played utility in many positions.

He is an all-around athlete and plays softball, baseball and rugby.

Currently, he plays rugby for Nu’uuli village in the American Samoa Rugby Union (ASRU) 15’s rugby tournament. He started the league playing for Nu’uuli’s second team, but due to his strong performance in busting tackles and bone crunching hits, he was immediately promoted to the first team as the team’s center. This position, center, is the same played by the famous Tana Umaga and Frank Bunce.
