boya_jr. Deepest sympathy to you and your ohana. Truly said that no man is an island unto himself -any man’s death diminishes me.

Love the plantation recollections – such a different time for our Hawaii. #57 so true… Hawaiian is an inclusive term, not an exclusive one.

Like a warrior, once a Hawaiian always a Hawaiian (don’t have to be ethnic; just calling Hawaii home is good).

During the funeral, I’ll ask my older relatives about what has been researched, and figure out what I can do.

This blog is my lifeline to my Hawaii roots, despite the UH sports focus.

Go Warriors!

I believe he got some material from the area library. It’s very interesting because this is where all the imigration started with plantation life and how the different ethnic groups had sort of a pecking order. It makes you aware of how many of our perceptions were formed. Even to this day, with the continued immigration of the different groups like the Koreans, Vietnamese, Micronesians, Samoans and how their culture starts to evolve.
