Thanks again for those golden memories and for coming to the game on Saturday.

I wish everyone would wait to the end of the season on discussion about the changing of the guard.

I believe the student athletes and the coaches deserve our support. If I’m not mistaken we still have

a game to go and God willing maybe 2. As you all know the kids and their parents read this blog. Glve them some support and encouragement. Tell a friend and relatives to make this game. Make it an early Christmas present, let’s fill the stadium! Go Warriors!!!

Graves said that he had blurry vision after taking a few hard licks during the game and when he approached the coaches to ask a question during the third quarter McMackin and Rolovich sensed it was time to make a change.

“He came over and he asked a question, and I asked Rolo, basically, ‘Maybe we should make a change?’ And Rolo felt the same way because we know that Shane can run the offense and we have complete confidence in him too…I don’t remember the question, it just wasn’t him.

“I don’t think he got knocked out or anything, I think he was just sort of flustered a little bit and they were blitzing. He did a heck of a job and it was just time.”

if you ask any doctor, he’d tell you that any blow to the head at full speed whether helmet ot helmet or not will result in some degree of concussion where and when the brain is jarred from its normal resting place.

of course the coach doesn’t want to mention the “c” word since it will force him to sit the player out for two days at least.

graves took a helmet to helmet hit that the refs swallowed their whistle on. he kept shaking his head on at least two times prior to the next snap.

graves admitted later that the hit caused him some blurred vision. probably the reason why he was pulled because his play was tentative after that hit.

btw, i got that 1980 dvd of the rainbows baseball game with miami to eric tokunaga.

now, he was wondering if you a copy of the game that followed on june 4, 1980 against arizona. this was the second to the last game.

No mention of the word concussion, just banged up and erratic. He did say that Graves is the starter going into BYU.

I still don’t recall erratic play. But I won’t second guess the decision to make the switch, as it ended up paying off.

so it was coach Mac’s decision to pull Graves in the 3rd quarter, no mention of a concussion and a need to side with caution to keep him out of the game or did I miss part of his explanation of the qb switch.
