Good Coaches will put in wrinkles because they know opposing coaches have scouted them. They also make game time adjustments on what they didn’t foresee prior to game time.

Case in point…after getting an extra point blocked and then a field goal attempt blocked in the same game. UH was driving in the 4th qtr for, if with field goal position, could’ve been the winning field goal. UH never reached field goal position, but could’ve…

After the game Coach Tomey was asked what was wrong with the extra point and field goal teams. Coach Tomey said, “I don’t know until I see the tape”. TOO LATE!!! If you couldn’t see what or where the problem was, then ASK YOUR PLAYERS and find out! Not after the tape, but during the game…so if we had gotten into field goal range, it wouldn’t get blocked again.

The players have changed for UH over the years, but we still have the same problems with converting extra points…so what is the common denominator?

long ago, okay, long, long ago a new public high school emerged. they decided that they must have a football program.

and so they did.

everyone was new at it and everyone was green inspite of their red and white uniforms.

those first couple of years they struggled and boy did they struggle.

but somehow, one guy always kept them in the game. one guy who was the qb who was scrambling for dear life on every down. he either got hit or sacked on each play. but, he kept getting back up and kept em coming for more. he never complained. instead he kept his teammates from hanging their collective heads.

he was the leader of this program. a great athlete that many were not aware of because of the losses and lack of success. he lead by example.

but when it was there to be had…it was had. he was that good.
