He can scheme, but he was/is unable to teach fundamentals. He would find better success at a BCS or NFL level program, where you have highly skilled players and the main focus is on execution and positioning. Mac was a good DC at this level, but did not have the leadership skills to be a successful HC. We will evaluate the value of Tuioti when we see the new recruiting class in Feb. We seemed to have landed some good local recruits the past 2 years, but I am not sure who closed those deals.

Chow has three opennings on his staff. Does he have to advertise the opennings for a certain lenght of time then go through a weeding out and interview process. Or can he straight out hire people to fill the opennings – just wondering.

Some good examples, Cam Newton, Brennan, Nick Marshall, Michael Bishop, Josh Leonard, Ryan Mouton. One guy I like now is Eddie Lackey. Hawaii was high on his list, but he ended up at Baylor. Once a safety, he is now a linebacker. He reminds me of Blaze Soares the way he hits. The TV announcers were raving about his play and his intensity and that he’s going to play in the NFL.

That would have put a damper on an already somber moment.

It was explained to me by someone who works at a television sports network that stars reflect what kind of impact and how soon that impact will be felt. All of this is an attempt to predict performance at the college level.

5 stars = a player who may become a top player for a BCS team, as a freshman.
4 stars = ” get significant playing time as a freshman and start as a soph.
3 Stars = ” be a starter by their junior year.
2 Stars = ” contribute as a Junior and senior.
etc…

He said that there are less than 15 real 5 star high school players coming out every year. Also, a 3 star guy who ends his college career as an all-american didn’t “become” a 5 star guy, he just fulfilled his potential as a 3 star player in his senior year.

I don’t know if this is the general understanding or just one person’s take on it.
