Deja vu all over again with Charlie Strong?

A source told WDRB that Strong notified Jurich of the Texas offer late Friday, but told Jurich he had made no final decision. He met with his coaching staff this morning and told coaches that he is still undecided. The entire staff was present at this morning’s meeting.

A source with knowledge of the negotiations told WDRB’s Rick Bozich that Strong is truly conflicted, and that it isn’t questions over assistant coach Clint Hurtt or money that are causing him any kind of problem.

“I really don’t think he knows,” the source said. “He’s trying to decide. I think he’ll talk to people he trusts, like Lou Holtz.”

Another source told WDRB’s Eric Crawford that Hurtt is a sticking point. Hurtt, who received an NCAA show-cause penalty for his role in recruiting violations at Miami, was given a provision to keep working at Louisville by the NCAA. Any other school that wants to employ him, however, would have to make a case for why it should be allowed to do so before the NCAA’s committee on infractions if it wishes to hire him.

No announcement was scheduled, and assistants left the U of L football complex this morning without speaking to media.

I hope the program will not be held to impossible goals. They are still developing and not all the pieces are there yet. Some still need to develop. One thing for sure, we’ll be seeing some really exciting games this year.

cuz no one knows “diddly” about that…but with the proper promo.. the sheriff should be filled for every game….porom word at UHAD..is a “me” word.. never done with the fan in mind..sumone
should ask them…what have they done for the fans lately ?? DUD… are we supposed ton don sumthing for the fans…thought..they were supposed 2 just come in droves n buy ticket..so we can keep our jobs ??? but ur right.. seems like a very exciting group of students therev that Mr. gib has put together…

exciting game. need more fans to come out and support the team. bj should go all out to promote this team. proper marketing of the revenue generating fall sports could make up some of the football revenue short fall.

this team has the talent to bring out the numbers of the AC/Alika years if promoted properly.

Is anyone of the opinion that Powell and Rauscher are not good coaches? If so, then the concern about hiring a coach with only GA experience is valid.

BTW, Rauscher did have a year at Dixie in addition to being a GA at UCLA (NOT at Utah).
