    Great pics ST

  2. Warrior Dave August 6, 2015 8:49 am

Hope Keith Urban’s injury yesterday is minor. Need all the oline men playing. Such a key position to keep our QB upright.

  3. uhfan10 August 6, 2015 8:51 am

Did dejuan butler and melvin davis make it to manoa?

  4. hilorain August 6, 2015 8:54 am

#2, I would much rather have Keith Urban hurt his knee than Brenden Urban. LOL!!

  5. truegreen August 6, 2015 8:56 am

#2: Keith Urban got hurt? Can he still play guitar? lol

  6. letsgowarriors August 6, 2015 8:57 am

i know we dont have much QB depth, but have they thought about moving Beau Reilly to TE or OLB yet?

  7. H-Man August 6, 2015 8:58 am

Luke Shawley cut his hair ! And he’s wearing different gloves than some of the other players. His has the rainbow logo. I wonder if they sell these gloves?

  8. Ipu Man August 6, 2015 9:02 am

Good shots, ST. Now ask your boss to send you undercover
    to Colorado practices 🙂

  9. Stephen Tsai August 6, 2015 9:08 am

I think Butler and Davis need to finish summer classes, then get approved by UH Upper Campus. Or something like that.

  10. Ipu Man August 6, 2015 9:09 am

Colorado isn’t so big ( a lot of 5’11” guys)
until you get to their Outside Linebackers.
They range over 300 pounds and around 6’5″
    http://www.cubuffs.com/SportSelect.dbml?SPSID=3845&SPID=255

  11. Stephen Tsai August 6, 2015 9:12 am

Reilly still is a little lean. He’s not moving anytime soon.
But you should check videos of his brother Trevor Reilly. That guy is beastly.

  12. Stephen Tsai August 6, 2015 9:14 am

OLBs who are three bills? If I’m an OC, I’m running quick screens to the flats. Three-hundred can’t hit what it can’t catch.

  13. Stephen Tsai August 6, 2015 9:16 am

We knew Shawley had to cut his hair. It was a surprise he cut it that short.

  14. NotNasti August 6, 2015 9:26 am

Ipu: I think OL stands for Offensive Line, hence 6’5″ 300lbs.

  15. Stephen Tsai August 6, 2015 9:27 am

    Ipu Man:
Thanks for the links. Good stuff.

  16. NotNasti August 6, 2015 9:28 am

    CU’s ILB’s and OLB’s range from 205 – 235 lbs.

  17. letsgowarriors August 6, 2015 9:34 am

so Bernard, Butler and Davis are the 3 we are waiting for?

  18. Stephen Tsai August 6, 2015 9:35 am

There’s an article that says Keith Urban and his wife are fans of the Tennessee Titans.
The Titans have a player from Hawaii.
    Hawaii has beaches.
Olivia Urban is a Hawaii sand volleyball player.
    Olivia is Kody Afusia’s girlfriend.
Afusia is a former UH center succeeded by … Brenden Urban.
I think we have a connection.

  19. bowwar August 6, 2015 9:37 am

Hope Butler & Davis make it here…

  20. Stephen Tsai August 6, 2015 9:37 am

    Also …
Keith Urban’s wife is Nicole Kidman, who was born in Honolulu, which has beaches …

  21. islandman August 6, 2015 9:49 am

That’s a rare picture of Ferd Lewis.

  22. jimmy the lock August 6, 2015 10:05 am

    Waiting for the hype.

On the subject of Keith, the number 28 is a Keith number. Tiki808 would know what that is, wherever he is, Mr. Math. It’s also the atomic number of nickel. One who ran all over the Rainbows, Marshall Faulk was #28.

  23. A-House August 6, 2015 10:28 am

    last night’s dream — final score — UH 14 — Colorado 0 — felt really good!!!

  24. Shoko August 6, 2015 10:30 am

Just saw the new uni’s. Gray pants with a vertical green stripe and the name Hawaii. It’s different in a good kind of way.

  25. Shoko August 6, 2015 10:33 am

Also, there seems to be some kind of Hawaiian design on the pants that I couldn’t make out. I would include the video chowcasing the new uni’s but it came of twitter.

  26. A-House August 6, 2015 10:36 am

although this is a football blog, international happenings should not be shaded such as the 70 anniversary of the A-Bomb drop on Hiroshima – 8/5/1945 – how many participating on this blog were alive then? I know the good Judge and I were youngsters then.

as I studied US and world history, I, to this day, wonder why the USA decided to drop a most lethal bomb on 2 civilian targets with little or no military significance? some classify this as a “war crime” by the USA who pleads that it would have saved 1 million US military lives if they had to attack Japan proper

USA had the A-bomb, but did not use it on Germany to end the war – why?

would have been most interesting to be a fly on the wall listening to conversations by those who decided to —–.

  27. jimmy the lock August 6, 2015 11:12 am

I thought the a-bomb wasn’t used on Germany because the USA didn’t want to have B-29’s in Europe plus the bomb wasn’t ready and Germany was ready to throw in the towel. I guess one out of three could be correct.

  28. Ken August 6, 2015 11:21 am

NPR did a story this morning on why Hiroshima was selected as the first target. Link here: http://www.npr.org/2015/08/06/429433621/why-did-the-u-s-choose-hiroshima

  29. nutmegger August 6, 2015 11:22 am

    #27 A-House
Germany surrendered (May 45) before the bomb (July 45) was tested that’s why not used in Europe first.
War in the Pacific was still hot. Iwo Jima/Okinawa landings were still fresh in everyone’s mind. The invasion of the main islands would have been bloody.

  30. jimmy the lock August 6, 2015 11:28 am

    Thanks Ken, interesting reading.

  31. Warbow August 6, 2015 11:30 am

Those that have seen the uniforms, please provide a link.. Mahalo!

  32. HawaiiMongoose August 6, 2015 11:51 am

My father-in-law and his sister were teenagers in school in Hiroshima at the end of the war and both lived through the bombing. I know it’s a painful memory for them but I still believe the U.S. made the right decision. As nutmegger says, based on the results of the Okinawa invasion, it’s likely that far more civilians would have died in a full-scale Allied invasion of Japan than were killed at Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Ken, thanks for the link, that’s a really interesting NPR story.

  33. hitman August 6, 2015 12:11 pm

    aloha everyone !! nice photo’s ST !!
ST are the noga brothers helping out at UH again this year ?

  34. st. anthony trojan August 6, 2015 12:20 pm

Maybe all 3 is correct…JTL….germany gave up in may… japan in august…

Germans waved the white flag…japanese soliders were jumping off clifts instead of surrender…

And there was a dude here..that spent 30 years…in the jungle n would not surrender…until his commander came from japan came here n officially relieved him of duty…honor n duty were very strong principles then…

democrata are war mongers…he he he…

my guess..the bombed would have saved untold millions of civilians who would probably fought to the death before surrender…

Still not know in my mind if was right or wrong…me was only 9 then…

  35. jeezy33 August 6, 2015 12:23 pm

Ursua looks really good physically considering he’s been away for 3 years?

  36. Da Punchbowl Kid August 6, 2015 12:27 pm

Gaaaaawwwwwwleeeee! Them Warriors looking good. Prayers for Urban – we gonna need the horses up front to be hearty and hale. Also prayers to keep the injury bug away in general. New Unis look cool – wonder what the home and away ensembles will be?

    28 more days!

    GO WARRIORS!!!

  37. Da Punchbowl Kid August 6, 2015 12:28 pm

    #37 – Jeezy

Yeah he does. He looks game ready to me!

  38. Boolakanaka August 6, 2015 12:42 pm

I agree with Jeezy. Ursua is pure athlete, and a nice combo of quick twitch,

  39. oneseason August 6, 2015 1:01 pm

UH has so much more going for it this year in terms of new coaching & players. If Scott Harding were still here, a 9+ win season would seem possible. On 1420 this morning BC commented that he would consider 5 to 6 wins an improvement over last year. IMO 6 wins would be a very marginal improvement and 5 wins (e.g. New Mexico, UNLV, SJSU, UC Davis, & Louisiana-Monroe) would just show you can hang with the MWC teams with losing records & marginal non-conference opponents. But a win against Colorado would give hope for future possible wins against San Diego St, Nevada, and AF. Can’t wait for the Colorado game. Let’s go Rainbow Warriors.

  40. jeezy33 August 6, 2015 1:08 pm

    40. He still needs to redshirt though. But future at least should have weapons with him on board. He’s not a typical FR. He’ll somehow be our next mature, more athletic Scott Harding somehow I bet. I got confidence in Collie, Ursua, and Stubblefield in future. Hopefully Mack Richards stays on board too.

  41. Ipu Man August 6, 2015 1:14 pm

Thanks Not Nasti. My Bad. I thought OL meant Outside Linebacker.
It could also mean Olive Lips…

  42. Ipu Man August 6, 2015 1:16 pm

    …or Oxtail Lick.

  43. Ipu Man August 6, 2015 1:19 pm

    …or Ohio Loss 🙂

  44. jimmy the lock August 6, 2015 1:29 pm

OL is a guy thing, Overall Length.

  45. z August 6, 2015 2:13 pm

Great pics and articles on football. Must be that time of the year. Can’t wait for it to begin.

  46. ML Warrior August 6, 2015 2:18 pm

I think its possible to get eight wins this season, if we could pick wins against New Mexico, UNLV, SJSU, UC Davis, & Louisiana-Monroe, and then pick up three wins against Fresno St, San Diego St, Nevada, or AF, so 8 – 5? Yes possible.

  47. Inyoface August 6, 2015 3:26 pm

We will smash Boise St. and their smurf grass.

  48. 808warriorfan August 6, 2015 7:30 pm

I don’t know about the rest of you fans out there …but… the past 3 season openers have been a “I hope we can pull the upset or at least look good if we lose” … this year I’ll be “very upset” if we don’t come away with a win over Colorado. I feel that is a winnable game …

  49. Derek August 6, 2015 8:33 pm

I see Cameron Hayes is listed as #26 on the roster, but I don’t know I’d he’s here yet.

  50. kapakahi August 6, 2015 9:18 pm

    #51,

    Been here since last weekend.

  51. midnight August 7, 2015 5:42 am

Wow! Nice pictures, ST! Getting antsy now in anticipating Warrior football. 104 degrees or so this weekend. You lucky guys in Hawaii. Miss everyone.

    Go Warriors!

  52. 3-Prong August 7, 2015 7:25 am

Working on Kauai this weekend. Gotta stay close to town though. Wea get good fried rice breakfast? Good Pau Hana?

  53. tempmanoa August 7, 2015 7:51 am

The pluses for a win vs Colorado are that Colorado has had a terrible defense– they gave up a ton of points last season. And Colorado has a mediocre offense. Last year we did not have the offense to take advantage of Colorado’s bad defense. This year we should be improved on offense and we will be playing at home and not at Boulder at atltitude with thin air. However, it will probably be too early to expect a win in our fist game with so many new players, coaches, and systems. Wins have to wait for team to get a few under its built.

  54. jeezy33 August 7, 2015 8:01 am

This past recruiting class was pretty depressing, but Cam Hayes in my eyes will be a good one if he sticks it out 4-5 years. He’s a Pac 12 talent IMO. Hopefully he has the work ethic and IQ to match talent.

  55. Old School Dave August 7, 2015 8:20 am

For some reason, UH OC Don Bailey reminds me of a bigger Mike Cavanaugh (former UH , Oregon State, and now OL coach at Nebraska).

  56. uhfan10 August 7, 2015 8:51 am

Hopefully they play john ursua now rather then later!

  57. Warbow August 7, 2015 9:02 am

It’s now or never for Chow. He needs to play his best players now without regard to the future.

  58. jeezy33 August 7, 2015 9:06 am

Ursua hasn’t played for 3 years. He’s a talent but I doubt he’s the best at his position going against guys who have been training much longer and learning the system.

He might make a ST impact at most.

  59. jeezy33 August 7, 2015 10:00 am

Makani Kema-Kaleiwahea cleared to play! huge for Hawaii.
