First … or last of the Hawaii night.

OK, got ST’s open practice schedule posted on my Tsai-ko site for easy reference later this month. 🙂

    Second. Go Warriors!

    Go Warriors!
Anyone going to the Hawaii-Reno road game on Oct. 24; I got a block of 20 seats at the 25 yd line behind our Warrior bench, next to the UH section which is at the 10 yd line. Text me at 415-324-0585.

Did you ever attend games at, I presume, decidedly less fun WAC venues like Moscow, Idaho and Las Cruces, New Mexico?

I remember Bobby Curran calling in from the Louisiana Tech site, marvelling with disdain over all the trucks with gun racks.

  6. 3-Prong August 4, 2015 6:56 am

Cappie: Speaking of gun racks, I remember a spring break trip in the 70’s where my Oregonian friends told me to stay in the car at a gas station stop as we passed through Medford Oregon. I thought they were joking… (You’ve heard of the kkk?)

  7. Shoko August 4, 2015 6:59 am

Hopefully everyone stays healthy for the duration of camp.

  8. Stephen Tsai August 4, 2015 8:19 am

Ruston is a nice place. It’s actually just three off ramps on the freeway. Grambling is on one side, Monroe on the other. Monroe is more of the conservative area. For fun, go to Shreveport. By the way, there seems to be more Cowboy than Saint fans in Ruston.

  9. ALLAN August 4, 2015 8:23 am

REMEMBER K.K. KOWMANUA (COW MANURE) ON THE RADIO IN THE 50s?

  10. lawaia August 4, 2015 8:40 am

Allan: For your information the comedian’s name is Kent Bowman and he used the stage name K.K. Kaumanua. Imua Na Koa Anuenue.

  11. amela August 4, 2015 8:49 am

Saw in the previous blog that a blogger said UH was favored over Colorado but it’s Colorado favored by 7 1/2.

  12. H-Man August 4, 2015 8:54 am

Well, I still haven’t seen Luke Clements name posted on the roster yet. I thought he was a D1 qualifier, so perhaps he found another school to play for. Same for Gus Lavaka.

  13. islandman August 4, 2015 8:55 am

The media allowed to shoot videos and take pictures ?

  14. islandman August 4, 2015 8:59 am

    12. H-Man — Stephen wrote yesterday that Clements will be added.

” The Warriors also are adding kickers Mauro Bondi and Rigoberto “Rigo” Sanchez, running back John Ursua, nose
tackle Samiuela Akoteu, tight end Davasyia Hagger, offensive tackle Luke Clements, and wideout Makoa Camanse-Stevens. The Warriors might add another defensive lineman this week. ” Also, Isaiah Bernard.

    8.

Interesting. When I was in Dallas last September, I went into a few sports bars and noticed 90% of the customers were Saints fans…

  16. Inyoface August 4, 2015 9:54 am

Will the new uniforms be brought out on game day or were those the new uniforms on media day with the green colored numbers?

  17. Da Punchbowl Kid August 4, 2015 11:21 am

Thanks for the practice info. Mr. Tsai. Definitely gotta make a practice or two. And thanks for putting the info on your Tsaiko site, Steve M. aka Tsaiko Minister of Information.

    GO WARRIORS!!!

  18. Da Punchbowl Kid August 4, 2015 11:22 am

Yeah! When do we get to see the new unis?

  19. jeezy33 August 4, 2015 12:04 pm

Doubt it will happen but I would like to see Kelly Green jerseys with solid white pants. No tribal or rainbow on it. Hawaii across the jersey with last names on the back. I want to see white helmets with the H logo in Kelly Green with black borders.

On the road, all white would be clean. Something simple like this. Same white helmets with Kelly Green H logo.

  20. Old School Dave August 4, 2015 12:10 pm

Wow! Fall Camp is not like the “old days” of 2-3 weeks of consecutive two-a-day practices. NCAA regs has done away with this with limits on weekly practice time. Wonder if the players get to use the new ice tubs in the Ching Center?

  21. jeezy33 August 4, 2015 12:11 pm

Something simple like this for home uniforms would be a clean look for Hawaii. Too much ugly tribal on our jerseys.

  22. Stephen Tsai August 4, 2015 12:12 pm

    Luke Clements will be fine.

  23. H-Man August 4, 2015 12:20 pm

ST, phew, was worried. Thanks for update.

  24. kapakahi August 4, 2015 12:27 pm

    ST,

Hoping that…..this other defensive lineman does make it to UH.

  25. jeezy33 August 4, 2015 12:35 pm

Is there a reason were playing the no name game?

  26. SteveM August 4, 2015 12:51 pm

    K.K. Kaumanua…
Kent Bowman. Had the pleasure to meet him in his later years. A real gentleman and he spoke perfect english.

  27. bowwar August 4, 2015 12:51 pm

ST: What happened to the other running back we were waiting for? Are we waiting for another NT as well?

  28. st. anthony trojan August 4, 2015 1:13 pm

KK… was a very funny man… n was never afraid to listen to him with kids around those days…

COMPARED TO RED FOXX N OLD MEL CABANG..HE WAS A ANGEL IN COMEDY…

  29. shadow August 4, 2015 1:27 pm

What you see above are the practices OPEN to the public. (I.e., practices not shown are not open to the public.)

NCAA rules state: Daily & weekly hour limitations do not apply to the following time periods: During preseason practice prior to the 1st day of classes or the first scheduled contest, whichever comes first.

So, daily 2-a-days are not ruled out.

  30. st. anthony trojan August 4, 2015 2:04 pm

So prior to the 24th…they are allowed two a day ?

  31. Warbow August 4, 2015 2:43 pm

It’s either Gus Lavaka or Nikko Taylor

  32. Boolakanaka August 4, 2015 2:46 pm

My favorite K.K. skit goes, “we wus goin send you 5 dollars, but we wen seal the envelope already ” and ” your uncle Manny (I think that’s the name used) died at the brewery, he fell into the beer vat, they jumped into save him, but he fought them off bravely.” Classic…..

  33. Ipu Man August 4, 2015 4:20 pm

    Thanks a million Steve M.
K.K. Kauumanua’ beautiful wife, Joyce Shaheen,
shown at 2:05 always cracked up at his jokes.
Both were a joy to meet. 🙂

  37. A-House August 4, 2015 6:24 pm

IMHO, I find it laughable that no photos or “movies” are allowed at UH practices

they are so lowly regarded, who cares what plays they run!

  38. cappie the dog August 4, 2015 6:44 pm

Runners on second and third with one out, Adrian Gonzalez at bat, but no problem, Jerome sits him down on a swinging third strike. Next batter, Andre Ethier, who grounds out to first base.

    C’mon, Jerome.

DON’T FORGET! TOMORROW IS STEVEN WRIGHT ON NATIONAL TELEVISION DAY! STEVEN “MONONUCLEOSIS” WRIGHT!!!

  39. WarriorNY August 4, 2015 7:09 pm

    Hey all,
Just had a couple of things I wanted to ask you all…

How has Aaron Zwahlen been throwing? Does he look like the next starter possibly as a redshirt freshman next year?

Also, I am excited to see this team perform. It seems like the most talent we had since 2010 at least. We have so many playmakers and experience on both sides of the ball. Anyone else agree? I hope everyone is doing well.

Have you been to the MoMA?

    Or the Guggenheim?

  41. Old School Dave August 4, 2015 10:35 pm

Finally, the team has decent accommodations for training camp. No more sleeping on cots in the dance studio.

About one month out till kick-off camp starts today-the silence is deafening regarding one Gus Lavaka and anything at all on the new uniforms…….any news or updates?
