She had a scholarship as promised this past season.

If the former is correct, doesn’t look good for the program- an all-conference academic selection not getting a scholarship renewal. Can see this as a numbers game, with only the walk-on Maeda and the departed Hagins leaving from last year’s team. From a strictly on-the-court standpoint, scholarships going to others would make competitive sense though…#19 Higgins and #26 Taylor (Prepvolleyball), being as highly regarded as they are getting scholarships right out of HS. Given that Higgins is already expected to push senior Uiato, this wouldn’t have Stauber with much of a chance of playing time in 2013. Longo is entrenched at libero, and I would envision Spieler and Mendoza as being ahead of Stauber and the others as the leading DS.

Wonder why Shoji didn’t give one to Maeda in her final year and a one-year only deal to Hagins.

Longo I believe has aid in another form. Two for 2013 goes to Higgins and Taylor. That’s 11 so with Stauber leaving Dave has one left, with a choice of going to Longo, maybe Passi a year earlier or a much needed MB.

Ginger Long, Kaela Goodman, Kristiana Tuaniga, Ashley Kastl, Jade Vorster, Tai Manu-Olevao, Jane Croson, Mita Uiato, Emily Hartong

Probably also Monica Stauber, Stephanie Hagins and Ali Longo.

Walk-ons: Emily Maeda, Kalei Adolpho (Basketball scholarship), Kristina Kam, Courtney Lelepali, Kayla Kawamura, Sarah Mendoza, Katie Spieler, Katiana Ponce.

I recall Dave saying she was to receive one her soph year.

Idaho 2013 so far hasn’t signed any S or MB and is left with 1 starter at MB and none at S. Good chance of both of them starting.
