One is getting the USA-Brazil matches televised in Hawaii.
17. you’re discussing it nationally. The World League matches have been NBCSports on DirecTV but that channel not carried on Oceanic. The World League replays have been on Oceanic 211 which is Universal Sports.
As for what people are more interested in, it’s the networks making the decisions, not the viewers.

I see a couple of the sports channels that night are showing Poker, and one is showing motorcycle racing. Really reflects badly on volleyball that the #1 vs #2 teams in the world don’t even get on TV. Guess people are more interested in Duck Dynasty marathons than these volleyball players. I’m just stating the facts.

Whoever is in charge of expanding the reach of volleyball in America, is really not doing their job.

I’m not surprised to see “volleyball fan” getting confused about what people are trying to discuss here. Last time I mentioned getting this volleyball match on TV, his “brain” went haywire and he started talking about UH volleyball being on OC16. Volleyball is bigger than Hawaii.

We’ll see how Kiraly does in his first stint as head coach in 2016. U.S. continues to be ranked No. 2 in the world, behind Brazil.

I am surprised that there is no TV scheduled. Perhaps that will change.
They’ve been streaming live for other events, including today’s Pan Am Cup.

This whole VIP stuff is just ego boosting, nothing more and I disparage the whole thing. I wouldn’t want a courtside seat anyway since it’s too close to the court and one could be accidentally hit by an errant ball. If I wanted to I could talk with the coach any time. It’s no big deal.

I’m surprised that some volleyball fans have little or no knowledge about Karch Kiraly named the Player of the Century. He’s the only USA player to have won three Olympic golds in both indoor volleyball (1984 & 1988) and beach (1992). He is the Michael Jordan of volleyball. I was able to talk with him freely in the past as I showed genuine interest both in volleyball and his family history. His father and my mother were born in the same city. I found him humble and approachable. He certainly doesn’t have a big ego. Suffice to be polite and genuine, that’s all.

As for no TV in that match, I believe that if enough people email USA Volleyball and request online broadcast (if not live, then at least replay), they may accede to our wishes. If anyone is interested in writing let me know and I’ll provide an email contact. For now I inquired USAVB to find out exactly whom to contact about this.

Maybe call the ticket office for clarification; 956-7655. press 7 to talk to a real person.
