The cynic in me says that after losing to UCI, the Beach figured that if they win at Hawaii they would have the clearest path to the title with only one loss, and not want to risk having to come from behind and win the “continuation game” against UCI. Now that they lost to UH, winning the continuation and hoping UH loses is their only shot.
