IMHO the band should play the Star Spangled Banner to start each game. West has been ready for a while and should start. I thought that Wade did a great job of substitution, using his players to the best advantage. Jobe looked better after Jace came in and gave him better passes to work with. Siki alone is worth the price of admission, I second tiffers plea to come see them play! They can be nerve-racking to watch but the potential is there for success.

don’t know if West is still bothered by that pulled muscle. For sure Marks struggled all weekend. Sedore hurt his hand Friday right before match point. Obviously didn’t bother him Saturday. Both he and Zarkovic played really well as the match went on.
They do need to beat UCSB twice and have that tiebreaker.

Congrats on the team, after the first set Ramos settled down and played well.
West should be starting, not sure if he’s still not fully recovered but He’s too talented to not start.

Now next weekend is do or die.

Good to see the team win matches that they should be winning. Siki and Sedore played very well, and both had solid serving nights. I thought Ramos played better also from Friday night — better location overall on his sets. West came in and just put up a wall.

setaone – JP struggled on Friday as he hit .000 (6 kills with 6 hitting errors). He struggled again last night, but Sedore with his career high in kills and Siki doing well from the other OH spot helped Hawai’i somehow win that match last night vs. Pacific in 4. Jace came in for JP and did alright. I agree with Feed The Middles that Nick West brought some energy off the bench (Olsen should get some credit for this as well) when he got the start in set 3; there was absolutely no energy from that team in the first two sets and they were quite lucky to head to intermission with the match tied at 1 instead of being down 0-2.

it’s an important series (seems like we’ve been saying this for every series since March began) this upcoming weekend for Hawai’i as they host UC Santa Barbara. right now, UH is in 9th place and a game back of UCSB/CBU/CSUN for 8th. remember that CBU is in its 3rd and final year of transition from NAIA to Division I so they aren’t eligible for postseason play. CSUN owns the tiebreaker over UH having swept them. if you all can, come to one or both of the matches as they tend to feed off a larger crowd and it’s the last two home regular season matches (except for the Alumni match on April 7) for them.

Yes. West had good stats. But he or Holt needs to really take that spot and solidify the second middle.

Did you not watch the match? Nick West had 3 blocks in 4 points…..turning the momentum to the Warriors. His athleticism and enthusiasm, not to mention his 5 straight service points were keys to the victory.

That second OH spot and the second middle still are the question marks on this team.
