What will Shoji announce. Or did I miss it already?

#35
That is very true Kahuna. UCLA will be hurting … so will Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska, San Diego and BYU among the top teams, as well as our Wahine. Stanford, Penn State, Washington, Florida and North Carolina and Kansas return pretty much everyone and Texas loses their setter and 1 starting OH but have the #1 recruiting class coming in.

Ryann Chandler is good but Van Winden is a little of a liability defensively. Going to take kind of a lot to replace Frager and Felix in the middle.

Cannot replace the big time playing experience the 4 seniors have.

Alexis Light is a 6’5″ bomber.

Just looking at RPI, the Minnesota bracket was the most difficult path to the Final Four.

Bracket Avg. RPI by round (the average RPI of teams competing in the bracket at the start of each round):
Bracket (1) – [Nebraska’s bracket]
Avg. RPI: 51; 21; 18; 05
Avg. RPI for first four rounds = 24
Bracket (2) – [Minnesota’s bracket]
Avg. RPI: 41; 20; 08; 07
Avg. RPI for first four rounds = 19
Bracket (3) – [Wisconsin’s bracket]
Avg. RPI: 51; 21; 17; 06
Avg. RPI for first four rounds = 24
Bracket (4) – [Texas’ bracket]
Avg. RPI: 43; 17; 10; 11
Avg. RPI for first four rounds = 20

Opponent RPI by Round; and Avg. RPI of all Opponents:
Nebraska: 139; 20; 26; 06; Avg. Opp. RPI = 48
Minnesota: 098; 23; 09; 12; Avg. Opp. RPI = 36
Wisconsin: 159; 43; 34; 11; Avg. Opp. RPI = 62
Texas: 123; 30; 07; 17; Avg. Opp. RPI = 44

This was supposed to be the team to do it. With 4 seniors graduating UCLA will be in a rebuilding mode for the next couple of years.

I don’t think any player in the tournament knows how Taylor feels. Who else ended her season and/or indoor career with an ankle fracture? At least Carlini got to play her last match. For Taylor, it is a question of what could have been. Worse feeling, IMO, because she was unable to help her teammates on the floor.

Seriously, the same can be said for Nebraska and Texas, who also hosted the subregional and regional. Same for Wisconsin too, except they lost today. Minnesota’s regional is widely considered to have been the most difficult/loaded. Also, Minnesota is the AVCA #1 team in the nation. They are that good. That’s why no one should be surprised if they win it all.

When will the moaning and complaining about system rigging stop? This is so old. And none of it helps UH.

A few years ago, folks complained because the committee followed the RPI so closely when seeding (I believe one year, the seeds matched the RPI rankings exactly). This year, complaining because RPI not followed as closely (e.g., PSU). I can only conclude people will just complain no matter how the tourney is seeded.

THIS TOURNAMENT IS RIGGED!

Well, Carlini sure knows how Nikki Taylor feels….Wisconsin loses 5 starters but return HAGGERTY…IMO “Freshman National Player of the Year” or Plummer from Stanford.
