But, on to conference play! GO ‘BOWS!

Plus it went 5 last year, as did UH’s matches with OSU and PSU. Warriors could have gone 0-3, 3-0, 2-1, 1-2. and they were 1-2

UCLA only returned 3 from last year and beat an arguably more-seasoned team, though agree Cheape, Marks and Holt were certainly missed this year.

As I said, UCLA played 3 players who played against UH last year.
UH’s lineup more than missing Cheape. Holt and Marks not in there as they were last season.
and, agree, what matters is the season.

You’re right about Marks and Holt, Marks seems so long ago. My bad! But UCLA returned most of their top players, no? …and Penn State graduated five seniors. Ah well, I guess it only really matters during conference play. Hopefully by then Wade will have figured it out. Not optimistic though.

Then you also have to say it’s essentially the same team that lost to Ohio State and Penn State in last year’s OHVI, teams they beat this year.
Hardly the same team as last year vs. UCLA. they also had Marks and Holt as starters. UCLA had only 3 of the same starters as last year so quite a difference in match ups.
Last year, UH had 9 aces 18 SEs. This year, they had 1 ace, 12 SEs.
This was a winnable match. UCLA played better at the end.

What happened?

Only thing is that he is coaching through 2014 season.

Correct. I’d also presume that Nebraska would then return as a 1st/last to one of the preseason tourneys,,,Shoji’s final 2014 run in the SSC.

Think they showed what they could do in Set 2 against UCLA when serving is on and they made the UCLA setter predictable, as happened with Ramos in the later stages.
3. agree with you. Think he was seeing if his starters could come back, as they did against Penn State the night before.
It’s early.
