No word yet on date for UCI-Beach match. Baxter still pretty close with UCI staff and said they were working on it.
Doubt if the Beach protest of the end of Friday’s match will go through. nothing to challenge. 2 yellows equal a red and a point.
The other match outcome was challengeable since the down ref didn’t allow what was a legal substitution.

31. not seeing Shoji being nicer this season. He’s been as demanding in practice as usual. and pretty much the same in matches.

In years past, we can expect Dave to be riding the players pretty hard from here on end to get them up to speed for post season play. Hopefully, he still has it in him to do it. He seems to be more reflective this year and less demanding – almost too nice.

As far as passing, I was at the CSF game last week and it seemed like the Wahine were serving way harder than CSF, yet CSF was rarely aced and really passed the hard serves well. In fact, the group behind us said after a perfect pass of an exceptionally hard serve by Nikki, “wow, they are passing everything.”

Before they even resort to using the libero for the back row attack (which is illegal), they have a lot of DS who can do that if needed. Ross and Guinasso are the taller ones.

also wahine can deploy some tactics too, passing an issue? then forget passing just dig it up a complete vertical and let the setter set with a pass (nice hands right?)

additionally when somebody overhand digs vertically/sets it in the front row, just hit it over in 2 like in beach, there is no reason unless the set was really sloppy that norene needs to set it again nor necessitates the setter to set every ball. run a faster unpredictable offense. (saw an example of this with texas a&m match)

finally since ‘ka-hockey’/’ha-hawkeye’ really lifts/could be less mobile and/or there is missing back row attack, create the ‘attacking libero.’ yes as it turns out the libero can jump and take a swing at the ball from the back row (i saw an example of such during the same sec volleyball game mentioned above and it was ‘normal’ resulting in a libero kill! and i thought before liberos can not attack, boy that apparently is fiction. all the refs saw it and no call made. holly mcpeak commented a libero getting a kill.)

previous thread 61, 64, 67, 68, 69, 71. that state champion…aint that something? elena ogilvie truly is outstanding! shoji should not pass that opportunity knocking. although only 5’9″ at her present doesnt mean she doesnt grow including a few more inches in a few years (1″ a year would make her 6′ even) and even still at 5’9″ she can be made an ‘attacking libero’ (yes liberos as it turns out can attack – as in jump behind the 3 meter and attack, though they cant overhand set over said 3 meter.) her passing and attack was so flawless like they said, ‘she can make something out of nothing.’

Finding a suitable date and location is always tough on short notice with unplanned events. Unless it takes place within 2 weeks both Arenas may be booked with 2 sports seasons overlapping (women’s volleyball and basketball.) It may also involve additional funding for the visiting team.
