I agree. Erskine is a waste of a game! Playing tougher teams will make the team better but I guess there is always room for a power puff game.

but I would much rather have UH Face Ohio State, Loyola, Lewis and Penn State, don’t wanna see an easy match at all.

7-14 football does not get that many scholarships because of revenue. the sport has long had the most, long before the obscene money given out to BCS schools.
it may make the most money but it also spends the most.
12. yes LBS offers 12 scholarships … in women’s volleyball. they have 4.5 like everyone else in men’s.

formerlywarriorfan — yup, i’ve seen those ncaa reports. they seem to put one out every few years showing the sorry state of college athletic finances. i agree, it’s a sad state. i think the deficits that athletic programs are running is more a function of runaway-spending. and i think the stat you’re referencing is that most “athletic departments” are in the red (less than 20 operate in the black), although i would also agree that most football programs are the same way, with only a handful of exceptions.

still though, football is the biggest generator of revenue at most places, regardless of whether the overall athletic department is running at a net gain or loss. hence, all the scholarships.
