The UH men’s team will be at the match in the Pyramid because they are in a preseason tournament in the LA area.

UC Riverside def. CSUN, 25-19, 21-25, 24-26, 25-22, 19-17

Can we let the redeye thing go? it happened because the plane had a problem last year.
AGAIN, it’s not like they played the day the got in.

15. yes I do have a comment or two. First, not sure what Hawaii’s itinerary has to do with Title IX. And some of the excerpts you’ve chosen to use is what I’ve written previously, such as Title IX is a federal law.

I guess we compete with HNN, I wouldn’t consider it competition. . we are different media. The SA ran the same story in the NEWS section because it had nothing really to do about sports. It had to do with a transgendered person who identified with being female feeling she was discriminated against when given the option to have a private space to change.

Nixon was referring to the 1965 Civil Rights Act. Title IX is an amendment to that. Don’t really care to repeat what I’ve said during this discussion that you continually want to have so if you would care to, a good link go to:
http://knowyourix.org/title-ix/title-ix-the-basics/

But to recap:
1. Title IX is not just about sports; it is a prohibition against sex-based discrimination in education. It addresses discrimination against pregnant and parenting students and women in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) programs. It also addresses sexual harassment, gender-based discrimination, and sexual violence. Sexual violence includes attempted or completed rape or sexual assault, as well as sexual harassment, stalking, voyeurism, exhibitionism, verbal or physical sexuality-based threats or abuse, and intimate partner violence.

2. Title IX does not apply to female students only. Title IX protects any person from sex-based discrimination, regardless of their real or perceived sex, gender identity, and/or gender expression. Female, male, and gender non-conforming students, faculty, and staff are protected from any sex-based discrimination, harassment or violence.

there are other items that will help clarify what Title IX is.

on the freeways are brutal from about 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. I suggest getting on the road as early as possible to reach your destination in plenty of time and hang out in the numerous coffee shops/bars/cafes in the area till it’s time for the game, or rent a room for the night, depending on your departure time. GO BOWS.

says:

“he Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights – not the NCAA – has the primary responsibility to enforce Title IX and respond to complaints.

However, the law has not undergone major change since President Richard Nixon signed it more than 40 years ago, and neither has it been fully enforced.”

^i knew title ix was too weak and not worth its weight in salt!

rise of the wahine even highlighted how collegiate sports teams struggled to implement title ix after its passing….and apparently they still struggle (ie mens football/basketball still is ‘superior’ to womens sports even if the mens games are lousy, including football/basketball taking precedence over wahine volleyball and the football percentage index converted into shoddy rpi)

cindy, since that was from HNN and presumably you compete with them as SA you got anything to counter/rebut/remark to that linked article?

The Wahines will need all the rest they can get before playing Long Beach. Looking forward to watching on ESPN3 online.
