Six players have played every set (27) and one (the libero) has played in 26. so it seems that Rose has stayed with his starters.
as for the reserves: one has played in 19, then it goes 18, 12, 10, 9, 5, 3, 1
conversely for UH 4 players have played in every set (37), one (the libero) has played in 36. then it goes 34, 29, 29, 19, 10, 9, 8 6.

The record for the SEC: 95-44 (.683).

Many power five teams schedule cupcakes to enhance their records. Tennessee is 13-0 and has played such power teams such as Towson (75 estimated RPI rank), Jacksonville (113), Charleston (150), N. Florida (171), UNC Greensboro (181), E. Kentucky (188), Coppin State (205), Evansville (244), Wofford (253), Tennessee Tech (268), Delaware State (290), St. Francis U. (299), and Hampton (327). I’ve never heard of three of these teams. Tennessee’s est. RPI is 39 right now, but should rise as they get into conference play and that SEC non-con record of ~.683 factors into their RPI over and over again (also assuming they have a decent conference record). UH can’t schedule this way because of the poor Big West non-con record.

Tennessee’s example is repeated throughout the power 5. It’s criminal how much love conferences like the ACC, SEC (not Florida) and Big 12 (not Texas) are shown by the tournament selection committee–still a football mentality IMHO. Just shows you can game the RPI–it is a less than ideal measure of team quality.

Difficult to develop multiple options if you don’t give others sufficient experience. My prediction is that when UH loses in the tournament, it will be because Taylor hits for a below avg. pct. (other teams will focus on shutting her down) and there won’t be a second outside option to go to. One of the middles will do ok, but overall the middles will be underutilized, TMO and Greeley won’t hit well. Basically the results of last year’s match at UW and this year’s loss to UCLA. And to beat Secretariat again, failure to develop the reserves against cupcake competition will be a missed opportunity. Just my opinion, I’m not a hall of fame coach after all.
