Minnesota’s 3rd year HC is Hugh McCutcheon — a former New Zealander who graduated from BYU. Anyone familiar with professional volleyball knows his name. He coached the U.S. Men’s Olympic Volleyball Team to a gold medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, then accepted the HC position of the U.S. Women’s National Team for the 2009-2012 Olympic quadrennial.

Big Ten POY and National POY candidate is Puerto Rico-native Daly Santana, who leads the conference in kills per set (4.37) while ranking 5th in service aces per set (0.35) during Big Ten play.

Already mentioned MB Hannah Tapp, who was chosen as a National POW. Minnesota also features the Big Ten FOY — Samantha Seliger-Swenson.

Volleyball is a game of MOMENTUM shifts, and if these sometimes seismic sometimes just barely felt tremors can move in the direction of the Bows …

Like I said above, playing Minnesota after Penn State feels like going from the frying pay into the fire.

GO BOWS!

It’s been over a month since they played a match at home. Seems like a long time ago.

With so many talented and physical teams left, it continues to be a war of attrition – who will grind it out point for point until the opponent falters. This wahine team has those abilities. To me, the keys are Taylor and Tai. Taylor needs to continue setting so smartly. Tai needs to stay relax and loose as she did last night so she can allow the brain to help sense the block before hitting. Go bows – play smart!

now to whack some gophers. wahine should remain undefeated against them.

GO BOWS!

I was so stoked and excited.

I remember watching the spring match vs Texas. The 1st set was a little rough, but then from the 2nd set on … Savanah was digging everything, Maglio was blocking & hitting like a champ and Tai was passing and hitting well. I remember turning to my friends somewhere in the 3rd/4th set and saying, we’re going to be GOOD this year!”

Needless to say, the Wahine proved me right! They have already exceeded the lofty expectations I had for them, and I don’t think they’re done yet. If they continue the high level of play from the past two matches I think we can beat anyone!

-Aloha!
