I didn’t watch either of the matches, but it was an exhausting schedule and probably the guys simply ran out of gas. Next time, when they schedule four matches in five days, it should be against easier teams like USCD and Baptist which aren’t as far apart geographically either. One of the bloggers expected a split with uSC and a double loss against Stanford. So it’s not a complete surprise there. This is a rebuilding year.

This still stings one hour later. USC IS BAD ugh.
At this point they need to go 4-0 or 3-1 to make up for this tragic road trip and it won’t be easy against Long beach and BYU. Stijn needs to play like he was before or else the warriors might be in trouble.
Siki needs to step it up also.

Ugh! Sooo bummed about this loss. Shouldn’t have been this type of ending BUT it was a hard road trip. As frustrating as this is, hopefully we can adjust, learn from our mistakes, and get better. Here’s to some much needed re-grouping and rest.

WF, definitely agree on the point about Fey. Either way, like a previous poster mentioned Charlie prefers to keep his primary passers in despite not producing offensively as they went on to use Jace Olsen as an example. There have been matches in which either Fey/Siki should see the pine in favor of the next OH up.

You also bring up another good point as far as attrition. 4 matches in 5 days. 2nd straight 5-set match. It’s hard to follow on GT, but I’m sure there were some opportunities to get the bench players in whether for a fresh-legged spark or to preserve the legs of a starter to close out a match.

Siki aint getting benched, certainly not when Fey wouldn’t get benched when he would hit negative all match ( like he did against UCLA)

I do agree that Wade needs to use his bench more, there is a reason they looked so tired, he never used his bench long enough ( rosey, Frank, etc) , to get them experience. He had Rosey in and UH was rolling in the fifth and then Wade put Stijn back and and he had two crucial errors!!

But this was just a choke job and you can’t afford to lose matches like this, every match is important when it comes to seeding and playoffs, UH wish this loss probably just hurt their chances at hosting in the MPSF, just an awful loss because they should have won!!!!

I personally would like to see Rosie go in more when Fey/Siki are struggling. It bothers me that Siki next to NEVER comes out. I get it, he’s a senior and a primary passer, but there are times when he should get the hook. Felt the same last year when what’s-his-face came in for relief when Siki was out with an injury and just lit the place on fire. Hartley. That’s what his name was. Felt Hartley should’ve kept the job that he earned or at least replaced Siki later down the stretch when he struggled. Throw Rosie in for Siki once, for the sake of shaking it up, and also to ease any fan’s minds regarding the possibility of nepotism.

Road trip from hell, this is just terrible, UH did not look like a top 5 team, Stijn has hit the freshman wall and is just playing very poor.
