UH has wanted to be in the Pac-10, now the Pac-12, since Stan Sheriff’s days in the 90s. They apparently weren’t too far off from potentially getting in when Sheriff died in 93.
Yes UH would be at a disadvantage now in recruiting and facilities but if they got into the conference, it would mean Pac-12 money which then allows them to do the upgrades needed to compete in the conference.

UH has been talking about joining this conference for years. Its not abou UH ready to make a pitch or not…….its about whether tthey want us or not. UH have been begging and even offering to pay travel subsidy to get into the conference. I would be willing to bet my house that UH probably talk to PAC 12 reps every year to gauze their interest in UH. A conference is not going to admit a school like UH base on a hall of fame volleyball coach.

Kind of interesting you want UH to join the PAC 12 and risk UH losing more games…….thus losing fans like yourself.

UH is in a conference where they belong. We will be at a HUGE disadvantage recruiting-wise and facility-wise in the PAC 12 and would be a bottom feeder. We are able to win a game or two every year against these school at home but if we have to travel to USC….UCLA…..Stanford every year….we are going to be in trouble.

Dreaming big is not always a good thing. I rather we do the smart thing.

I been a Wahine fan since 1986. When they won the title in 1987, I became more of fan. When I got Karrie Trieschmann’s autograph in 1989, I became a fan for life. As u say, if Dave had not won and kept on winning over the years, most of us would not keep on going to Wahine matches. I would like Dave to get into the Pac-12 conference except I don’t think the AD is ready to make a pitch for it. Dave’s program has been linked in its success to Pacific, Stanford, Long Beach State, USC, Texas, Nebraska and Penn State, all of whom have won National Championships. Both Pacific and Long Beach State, long time conference rivals, have fallen off the AVCA rankings picture, which is unfortunate. Hawaii has kept on being a presence in the AVCA poll. UCLA won its most recent title after being ranked ending the regular season 9th. We always have hope, even though we have not won since 1987. If that’s the way the cards are dealt, then we just take it that the 1987 would be the most famous UH championship team, because that’s the last one that UH has ever won, in any sport. It won’t be a cakewalk to win another title, except this year’s team appears to have the ingredients to go “all the way”, so let’s pray. Besides Dave has a score to settle with Mick Haley of USC, after Mick won his first title at Texas in 1988.

But, just for the record, if you aren’t seeded to begin with, which predicates that you aren’t in a conference with some RPI behind it, then you are not hosting. Neither the 1st or 2nd, nor the regional. So, what are the options? Simplest would be – give at least 75% of RPI weighting throughout the next season to how you did in the last NCAA tournament.

For example, over the past years, how do you get teams that have never been to the final four in the same region as say Penn State? So if the NCAA is so bent on the RPI, their final seedings should reflect that. Maybe they can try to remedy things by starting with the non-pre determined sites for regionals in 2016 and use some common sense when seeding the teams. Or maybe not.

Not consistent if I am looking at this correctly. There must be other criteria that weigh heavily in the final seedings for each region.
