Plus Castillo is getting used to playing back on the left after being the backup oppo and middle.
there were a number of comments about Granato’s true size last season

Greeley will be back, don’t see her as L1 though. much will depend on Castillo. currently the backup opposite. She looked good on the left
33. must have typed in the wrong name . 3 aces each by Higgins and Taylor

Agreed. I’d add that Granato looked sharpest early, while Castillo looked stronger as the match wore on. Iowa State would attack over Granato when they could get the pass to the attacker on her side. Castillo was the better defensive matchup in the front, and as good or better a hitter than Granato late in the sets and later in the match. But earlier on in the first two sets Granato was very good, and she played better than Casey in the back row for most of the match. Both had some work to do on their serving and passing. Granato was the more reliable digger and definitely was the more focused of the two early on. Based just on just last night’s play (not much to go on, but fools like me will rush in) I can see Castillo coming into the front row for Granato late in sets, and coming in early in the 3rd through 5th sets when Granato seems to fade a bit on her vertical, focus, and hitting punch, and the opposition starts to hit over her. Casey I think has more upside but I’m not sure she has the competitive fire to assert herself to claim the spot from start to finish. For the moment Granato looks like the hungry tigress that wants the kill, and although she’s not the biggest cat out there she’s giving it her all and sinking her teeth in early.

The trade-off is offense for defense; but, after 2 sets she loses her hops. –Iowa State played their back row wide to pick up the cut shots from our middles. Maglio, Mitchem, and Burns will need a wipe shot, or a roll shot to hit the empty back center. –The sets to the middle are still too low and Magill is no longer here to make lemonade out of the lemon sets–Castillo could use coaching to improve her serve. All Hawaii hitters need to improve their serve, Tayler Higgins and Nikki Taylor will both graduate after next season.

Hawaii hitters need to employ wrist leverage to add “pop” to their shots.

The connection between Higgins and the middles needs to be ironed out but I’m confident that that will be worked out by the start of the season.

Both Castillo and Granato need to work on their passing. I like that Granato is not afraid to take a good aggressive swings all the time. On they other hand, Castillo looks like she’s babying the ball a little too much. Still Granato’s height will be a problem. If Granato starts there will be at least one rotation where she and Higgins are in the front row at the same time.

I predict that they will both end up sharing the OH2 spot.
