SC No. 2 pair was 4-3 coming into last night. No. 1 was 7-0

Taylor and Schreiber, playing in their just their third match together
Unlikely they’d pair Taylor and Maglio. both handle the ball well but they’re both offensive players and Spieler and Maglio have complimentary games.
Taylor and Tucker looked good but Long and Tucker had pretty good chemistry. It’s still early. the key will be winning the Big West tournament

taylor/schreiber — there’s potential there. i think they should switch up during the course of the match who’s playing front and back row duties. both seem capable of the switch. and on defense, if taylor is backrow, she may get more chances to attack the ball.

spieler/maglio — spieler is so good at all the fundamentals, it’s really just her height holding her back against the taller more physical teams at the net. watching maglio is a nice surprise. i was impressed by her attacking and blocking, and also her all-around game. can’t wait to see how a season of beach vb playing tough competition in flight #1 will pay dividends on her indoor game next season.

but those usc gals play like they live on the beach. very smooth, low error, all-around games. i’m surprised they’ve taken some early losses already (to fsu and pepperdine). perhaps the losses were in the lower flights, where they’re not as strong.

Like to see Nikki and Emily team up. Two bigs who can hit , dig and pass. Not a dig on Katie, because she is very good and is teaching Emily alot about beach volleyball.

last night was a great measuring stick for the sand bows. SC exposed Katie’s lack of height. Yes, Lara didn’t have her best day. I think playing on TV affected her. Where Emily and Nikki are accustom.

I think Schreiber and Taylor can be good but it’ll just take time. Taylor was right that for in order for everything to work they just need to focus on their passing which is important. Schreiber is somewhat in a new position of playing a majority in the back. She only has to do that when she plays with Taylor, Rooks, or Boyan. Other than that she is mostly a front row attacker. You could see it in the match that there was confusion at sometimes where they weren’t sure who was going to block.

I think over times the Bows will become better and better. Good job to the bottom three pairs for fighting against a really good team.

I wonder if Jeff thought about pairing Nikki with Katie again. They made it to nationals as a team together a couple years ago. They have the chemistry.

Lara Schreiber did not impress me much at all, especially someone that has the background she has. I guess I expected more from her.
