Wong has said chemistry has played a big part in the pairings. he was pleasantly surprised by the Spieler-Taylor pairing. Taylor in her first year relies a lot on her natural athleticism and is so appreciative of Spieler’s instruction for playing on the beach.
wong said he likes the work ethic and chemistry this season. The players say they have really trained hard, the non-indoor players especially in the fall, and it is paying off.

I didn’t mean it to look bad on the coaches … There is a strategy in placing pairs in the flights that’s for sure. I think there will possibly be movement in flights 3, 4 and 5. And that’s okay. These girls seem to be a “team” this year. Much more so than last season. They all have the same goal and that will make for a great season all around!! Looking forward to their next island tournament!

they’ll look at how last weekend went and adjust.
I think the 1-2 teams for UH may stay there but you never know.

She and Rooks seem to be gelling in the court so could just be coaches strategy. R and R definitely prooves themselves when they beat LBSU #1 flight in a 3-set thriller. It was great to witness and even better with the outcome! R and R battled and held off 6 or 7 match points in set 3.

Jackson & Johnson played @#3 last season and are STILL #3–even IF they’ve played @#2 this weekend. Brian is the most savvy with strategy/manipulation(s) in going for the team win versus individual pairs..some maintain “sand bagging” as a ‘leadership’ tradition.

The indoor players are scholarship so they’re covered on sand.
11. Today not the day to come down to Waikiki with the Eikiden Relay festival. limited metered parking at Kapiolani Park. several lots are closed to accommodate the parade. Kalakaua closed for the parade.
