#45 I totally agree. I truly believe he is National Team potential as a setter as long as he is on target, aggressively attacking, and keeps the other teams guessing. You either have that athleticism or you don’t. He has it and then some. His blocking can shut down the opposing team’s left side. Josh Tuaniga of LBSU is a great setter because he is creative and is on target. However, Jennings could probably dunk over him being that he is a few inches taller in height and with that amazing vertical.

And on Jennings….dude has been spectacular this season. In all aspects. He will be sorely missed next year. Joe is a phenom himself, but no one can match Jenning’s athleticism. He’s so much fun to watch.

Tui was playing outside at USC, he DEFINITLEY has the skill sets, jump and hittting ability to hit at this level. You must not have seen him play before coming to UH.

Mav – yes, that is what I was referring to. Places in the B1G, Big 10 or even ACC. Obviously winning those type of matches would help more, but playing there would be just good exposure for the team and RPI.

#41 agree. Tui can be a good change of pace outside. However Fey or other listed options need to be in there on a regular basis.

39. To clarify, the location of a match does not have any impact on RPI. Beating a team at Stan Sheriff or at that team’s facility will have the same RPI impact. However, if you are suggesting that UH play on the road against higher-RPI teams that won’t or can’t travel to Hawaii, then UH should definitely do that, especially during the fourth weekend of the season, after the three UH-hosted tournaments are completed.

The last time UH traveled in the non-conference season was in 2013 to Wichita, where it beat South Dakota, Creighton and Wichita St. 2013 was the last time UH received a seed (#11), and did so despite having the 17th-best RPI ranking on selection Sunday. Many factors contributed to this: beating #1 Texas to begin the year, the BW having the 8th best RPI rating of all conferences, 3-1 vs. RPI top 25, 6-2 vs. RPI top 50, beating RPI top 25 Creighton and top 50 Wichita St. on the road (significant road wins). Also note that this was the year UH lost to Northridge, UCSB, and Davis in-conference. So despite these 3 losses, UH still got seeded.

2013 was also the year the BW had tri-champions and 3 teams in the tournament.

Tuileta doesn’t have the hops to play outside at this level. He wouldn’t be horrible, but Fey has the kind of physicality, vertical and height needed. Just needs to be consistent obviously, which he’s been better at. Plus Hawaii has other options on the outside like Matautia and Parapunov.

I’m still hoping for a Fey and Tui switch of positions. You still get Fey’s passing. You still get Tui’s passing and defense. But you add Tui’s offense, which I think is better than Feys. Oh well, wishful thinking.

Sorry, back to Robyn will quick. I hope she really plays the RPI game and play more on the road.

I’ve been happy to have a great seat without a crowd around me, but the way they’ve been playing, it won’t last. Eventually others are going to figure out what they’re missing.
