And with east coast teams like Ohio St, Loyola and Penn St really becoming national factors, it is just a matter of time before it gets bigger and harder to get these guys here.

And I don’t want this next comment to be considered sexist or anything, so please don’t go there with this…but, I think young men are willing to travel away from home and get a different experience and Hawaii is still paradise to these young guys. Young women are a little more emotionally tied to their decision process and likely to stay near family and Hawaii is just too far. Guys tend to make more “fun” decisions. Just my opinions and it is said knowing MANY young women travel away from home to play.

I think Wade is a charmer for sure, though. And I know a couple super star wahine recruits committed to Hawaii because of Wade. He has a more charismatic personality and can be more persuasive. So, like I said, I don’t think he will get the job, but I would not be bummed if he got it either.

I would love to see Fisher or Sullivan from Texas come over.

I agree that he has done a great job with the men and has been able to bring in the international talent and top national team players on the team. What people have to remember is that the men’s game is about 30 decades of evolution behind the women’s game.

The women have more options around the country and top talent is plenty and being spread out across the Power 5 conferences. This has not effected the men’s game yet and young men have less options, and Hawaii benefits from that. Especially these past couple recruiting classes where Charlie was able to get a bunch of kids playing together on the national level coming in together.

I think the men are where the women’s game was in the late 80s/early 90s as Hawaii was considered to be in the top conference and the top talent came from and stayed mostly on the west. In time, the men will get there, too. But in the meantime, I’m super happy Charlie is able and willing to go internationally for talent. That’s one area I wish Dave would get more into. I’m not convinced Charlie would transition back to the women’s side. I think he has found his niche in the men’s game.

Think you kind of answered you question. My assumption is Van Tilburg has NOT proven he can pass as well as Matautia in practice, which is why Wade is hesitant in putting Van Tilburg and Parapunov in the lineup together.

Hawaii needs to pass well, and I think a combination of Fey, Matautia and Rossenmeier and Tuileta at libero provide Hawaii’s best chances at passing.

I will say though, the upcoming road trip against UCSD, Cal Baptist, Mckendree and Lindenwood may be a good time for Wade to put out a lineup with Van Tilburg and Parapunov to build chemistry.
