personally, i think colorado st may have technically been on the bubble for a seed because of their rpi … realistically, i do not think they would have gotten one, even before their loss to sdsu this past week. colorado st did not play anyone in the top 25 of the rpi. that’s not something that would propel them to a seed.

Obviously it’s not the “Final” Pac-12 Conference Standings as each has a final match on Friday (mostly cross-town rivals, such as Arizona vs Arizona St, Washington vs Washington St, etc) but you get the drift. BTW: Last year we blamed California for UH’s dropping RPI. This year we can blame UCLA, and (yipes!) UCLA can still add another loss to its season!

Why did I start with 2003? In 2003, the NCAA D1 Women’s Volleyball Committee announced its first-ever PREDETERMINED regional hosts: Florida, Hawai’i, Long Beach State, and Nebraska. (Yes, back in the day, women’s volleyball on the West Coast did not mean solely Pac-12 teams.)

Re: 7 & 8 … SDSU and Colorado St were 2012 MW co-champions, and the preseason coaches poll had SDSU and Colorado St first and second again. Colorado St lived up to its end of the hype, winning the MW conf. with a 18-1 record. SDSU never showed up (except for this season-ending match), ending 11-8 in the middle of the MW pack standings. But Vbfan is right: with a #20 RPI and a season-ending loss, the AQ Rams “bubble” for a seed is now popped.

Congrats also to NMSU, which turned around its ship and just won its second-straight WAC Championship tournament title. That Aggies victory should help the Bows RPI.

Would be interesting to see either — or both — of these AQ teams at the Hawai’i regional.

As it’s very likely Hawai’i will face a Pac-12 opponent in the NCAA Championship tournament, here’s the PAC-12 Conference’s Final Standings:

Note 2: USC cooked UCLA’s goose/turkey, 3-0 (25-22, 25-11, 25-13) today (Nov 27). UCLA’s loss will not help — and will probably hurt — UH’s #11 RPI.

Note 3: Pac- 12 had a contingent of 7 teams in last year’s NCAA tournament. I see 7 again this year.

7. thanks vbfan. Their undefeated record was a fluke anyways, play a good SDSU team and get beat. Reserved my seat for the 1st/2nd round today, had problems trying to complete the payment part and had to call the UH ticket office to enter my visa. It’s a flaw in their processing system, was told many had that problem and called in.
