Not unexpected, but Nikki Taylor has just been named the AVCA National Player of the Week! Congratulation Nikki, a well deserved honor! Expect her to be named the ESPNU player of the week too, which will be announced tomorrow.

Congrats to Savannah Kahakai on the award! She is looking like the player that we saw in the Spring Exhibition Match with Texas where I believe she had 25 digs and received high praises even from Texas Coaches. Go Savannah!

Since I have numeric inversion dyslexia .. seriously but it only kicks in at times … to answer without specific numbers.

Don’t you think they’ve been trying to get into the Pac-8/10/12 for decades?
It came closest right before Stan Sheriff died, at least from the accounts I got from Sheriff and Yoshida back in the early 90s.
Agree with the comments that it is football driven.

That UH won’t have to pay travel subsidy for any teams added to the Big West after UH joined is part of the Big West-UH agreement. Besides, it’s not only on UH to accept a new school into a conference. It has to be by a vote of the conference members and I don’t believe it would be a unanimous vote from what I’ve been told.

As for the alumnae match this Sunday, haven’t heard anything about who is playing. It seems like it is a lot earlier this year than in the past.
Marilyn Moniz-Kahoohanohano normally handles the commits and we probably won’t get a list until like Thursday. They usually have a practice a few days before in Gym 1, followed by beer and Ben-Gay.

not all the tallest players are playing. We often have 6-1 Magill, TMO and Higgins in the front row. That has to be the shortest front row in the conference.
