Welcome back CL. Netherlands prep was spot-0n early on. They doubled the U.S. middles when we passed well. Then they doubled OH1 (Hill) and (Opp) Murphy. When US is out of system (i.e. poor passing) the high setting allows double blocks to form.

Both matches showed that the typical “plain vanilla” volleyball offense will face a double block most of the time. When the US women ran fast in the latter sets (and everyone carried out their part) they prevailed.

It follows that if UH runs a plain vanilla offense, they will run into double blocks across the board. With a weak left side (and teams doubling the right side) UH will become predictable in going to the middle.

Welcome back, hope your family is well Cindy.

Can you tell Coach Shoji, that when he does retire he should tell people at least a year in advance so he can get a farewell tour. If anybody deserves one, he certainly does. I know he doesn’t like the grand gestures, but it is also for us fans to show how much we appreciated him.
