love the wahine team but after watching penn state play stanford a few wks ago, i don’t think we are anywhere near their level. they run a much faster less predictable offense. in one play the middle and the right side hitter switch behind the setter. the blockers can’t key on a certain player as they are not sure where the hitter will end up. LOVED IT, fast upbeat offense with some wrikles.

67. That Hawaii isn’t getting what you consider the ‘top’ recruits has nothing to do with facilities when it comes to volleyball. Which seems to be more of a consideration for football. . it has to do with the perception that UH is not on par academically and athletically with the Pac-12, Big 10, etc.

In reply to Not an Expert. I understand your enthusiasm but that won't happen that way. you won't be able to create a super athletic dorm for just women's volleyball. It has to be program wide. It would require the kind of money that Oregon got from Phil Knight or BCS money.

Cindy, as they say how does one eat an elephant? One bite at a time. UH needs to do it on a small scale first and the Wahine volleyball program is a good start. Give the girls the best living conditions, make sure their college experience in Hawaii is great and memorable, have their parent’s be given prime seats close to the players, etc. If they cannot do it with this program yes you are right it will never happen and UH will never have national championships in division I.

50. you assertions about the BOR have no merit. and why bring up Coach Les? did you not forget that he had a stroke which forced his retirement?
60. The thread is alsays up in a timely matter, usually about 15 minutes before the match starts. That it often doesn’t show up until later is a mystery to me.

With 14 to 15 players would it help the recruiting process for Wahine volleyball if the dorms and all the legal extras can be the very best, second to none. Why I say this if UH are not getting the best players and by upgrading the dorms and the little things of making their playing for UH the best and greatest experience why not do it and experiment. Being the program is profitable and the extras that can be done for a few athletes creates national champions, this can become a template for other UH programs to follow. By the way I have no idea how the comparisons for women’s volleyball amenities compare.
