Tremendous team effort! Props to Shoji and his staff too … They coached their butts off last night!

I love that mmm mmm good! Maybe Campbell Soups won’t come after you for that. You oughta feed that to Kanoa & Chris. You know how they like to come up with nick names like “McGill Kill” and “McGill the Thrill”.

Ok, everybody sing, “mmm mmm good, mmm mmm good, The UH Wahine Middles are MMM, MMM, GOOD!” ;o)

Go Bows!

No, but if go to hawaiiathletics.com, you can watch highlights of the match. Incredible to watch, especially the long rallies won by the Wahine. GO BOWS.

He sure did it last night. I was happy to see that the Wahine can do it in 5. Nikki was a beast. No doubt best player on the court.

Many complaints by posters on the UCLA game were more than answered by all, from TMO to Shoji and staff. Shoji adjusted as the match went along finally finding the right combinations to play both defense and offense. The bench strength is substantial and Shoji’s willingness to use the next man up crafted the victory.

Very happy to see the spark I mentioned had beenissing to date, it was saved for the best moment possible though. As I had wanted previously sets to the middles helped open up the outside hitters. Mistakes were still made, but they were forgotten for the next play, that will bode well for the Wahine’s post season march in addition to knowing the level of volleyball that they can reach.

Koelsh allowed the comeback to unfold, but I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how professional Higgins was about the switch. Her serving was crucial in the victory, true leadership.

Nikki Taylor is a joy to watch, I even noticed her showing some leadership before the second set, encouraging the girls to smile after points regardless of the outcome

Okay I have been saving this, but I will offer it up now. I am dubbing the middles as mmm mmm good, McGill, Maglio, and Mitchem. The more sets they get the better the team will do. Just think about how productive they were as Koelsh began using them against a team who has A caliber middles. Not only did they produce points, it forced Florida to play a more honest defense against the outsides. Like I said mmm mmm good.

We also have to be in that conversation. I would give Robin a lot of credit for her coaching up her charges. The three of them huddled up during each time-out. I thought Kahakai was fine and improving. The Florida libero was the best since Hagland (sp) of USC . No more real challenges until we go on the road later in the season A team win for the Wahine and the crowd.

Kudo ladies for the hard work, fight, courage, and believing in the team. Kudo to Dave for conceiving of the game some time ago and then identifying the pieces he needed to make it work. And as it was being developed and jelling, for standing by your game plan in spite of the call for your head – congrats coach. Yeah, you know what you are doing!
