Opponents of UH opponents factor into the RPI.

They played Portland State, but not Portland. Just thought I would mention that. Portland’s 0-18 record shouldn’t affect Hawaii, unless I am missing something.

Cindy, thank you for providing a forum to share, especially for the RPI gurus. It is very relevant and engaging to read.

(how much it helps … that i have no idea.)

talking about it won’t make it any less palatable, but at least when everyone starts saying at the end of the season that the RPI (and the ncaa selection committee) screwed hawaii again … maybe they’ll also understand a little bit more why it happened. (hopefully it won’t happen this year though. 🙂 )

But you folks are welcome to debate and dissect the rankings. agree that there hasn’t been much else to discuss since it was a bye week for the Wahine. Other than who got Married (Juliana Sanders to Brian Beckwith, those are going to be tall children) who is expecting (Elizabeth Ka’aihue-Stolzman) and who recently had a baby (Jocelyn Robins Akana)
There is a new thread on the RPI if you want to move the discussion over there.

Well, we don’t want your nausea to cause you to throw up in your mouth. That being said, a few comments:

(a) I’ve already stated UH probably needs to win out to have any chance of hosting rounds 1 and 2
(b) Many of us are not annoyed, disgusted or nauseated by the discussion of RPI, which is integral to whether a team hosts or not. Some of us even enjoy it. And in a bye week when UH only played alumnae, forgive us if we are a bit hungry for something to talk about.
(c) As this blog is for all and not just one, you have the option of tolerating our nauseating discussions, starting your own blog where you can control the discussion, and/or just simply stop reading.

UH but its really disgusting and annoying…The bottom line is UH has to win out…they have to go undefeated the rest of the season and be consistent in their play which they haven’t been lately esp. playing in the BW Conference…. Anyway, we should all be talking about the team going undefeated and then just let the cards fall where ever as UH has no control where they will be placed or if they can or will and definitely should host the first two games of the regionals..oh, well..sorry…..just its nauseating seeing everybody talking about RPI’s etc…..the main thing is going undefeated for the remainder of the season and then speculate at the end where Hawaii will be placed etc…

16. technically, if USD’s rpi is negatively impacted by a USD loss or USD opponent’s loss/bad record, then UH’s rpi will be negatively impacted. The former is part of the 50% rpi component and the latter is part of the second 25% rpi component (although the relative impact on this latter component is significantly less than the other two components)
17. More specifically, UH needs its non-conference opponents to keep on winning.
