Wahine 0-5 with 2 5-set losses to The Beach.

She had 0 hitting errors in 12 sets, from Set 3 at UCI through Set 2 vs. CSUN. I didn’t have access to the stat program that would have showed how many attempts she had while going errorless. That may have played into her nomination, as well as her blocks. Magill had 3 hitting errors in 4 matches with UH going 3-1.

Hello, Cindy. I wholeheartedly agree with Adolpho’s nomination, and eventual win, for DPoW. It was Olivia’s nomination over Nikki for PoW that surprised me. Nikki’s stats were not only better than Olivia’s, they were also better than eventual winner, Alex Reid’s. Even the “Points” metric gives Nikki the edge over Reid: 21 (Fri) and 17.5 (Sat) to 17.

Maybe I’m making too big a deal of this. Maybe the girls don’t really care about these accolades.

Thank you for humoring me.

Even though the current NCAA web site says there will be 33 automatic and 31 at-large bids awarded, if it’s the same as last year, there will be 32 and 32.

Last year the NCAA gave 28 at-large bids to the BCS schools: Pac-12/8, Big Ten/7, SEC/7, ACC/3, and Big 12/3. The remaining at-large bids went to the Big West/2, WCC/1, and Big East/1.

In other words, after the BCS leagues swallowed the lion’s share, only 4 at-large bids were left for the pickings. Yes, 4.

For those who think it’s almost a gimme that the Big West will again have 3 teams at the Big Dance (i.e. 1 automatic and 2 at-large), remember also that the NCAA Selection Committee doesn’t forget what happened from a year ago (although they will never say so). In the 2013 Championship Tournament, 0 of the 5 teams from the SEC, 0 of the 3 from the Big West, and 0 of the 2 from the Big East made it out of the subregionals.

As Cindy (#9) said, “if Hawaii wins out, they will be 9-1 having won their last 5, with a five-set loss to a ranked team.” Although detractors will point out that Team Shoji has yet to beat a ranked team in the regular season. Prove to the NCAA Selection Committee that you deserve a shot at a ranked team in the post-regular season. Win out. Momentum is all.

Go Bows!

Is it in the morning and at the Sheridan or another similar site as the previous years? I recall a complete tv coverage for last year.
