Maglio is very quiet. At least with me she isn’t on camera and it is easier for her. But not the easiest interview. Reminds me a lot of Ah Mow-Santos when she was playing for UH.

First live interview on TV? Know how she felt. If anyone has had a mike in their face, a TV camera blinking in front with a interviewer shooting questions (she had three!), he/she knows how the tongue can disconnect from the ears and brain….. (And I was used to speaking in front of fairly large groups.) Am sure she’ll do better as she does more. Go, Maglio…. Am so glad you chose to play for Hawaii!

Just wondered if the team did anything to prepare players for interviews.

I think what has helped her indoor game more is having played on the beach.
Didn’t see the interview so can’t judge. I just know that she was still a little shaken when coming into to talk to the rest of us after doing TV.
She is a very sweet but very shy young woman.

The same posters who insist the Hall issue was tied to Huff leaving, are back with more of the same. Being on live statewide TV for the first time would be overwhelming for most. Though the interviewers were fine.

This blog is great!

I found Maglio’s shyness mostly charming. I think we should keep in mind that with shyness often comes a lot of good qualities–good listening, thoughtfulness, courtesy, humility, a quiet strength.

Perhaps. One on one would have been better. Use Kanoa.

I mean if I was interviewing someone I know was shy, I would keep the questions straightforward and easy. She obviously was uncomfortable in front of the camera and would have been better to just ask volleyball questions. She can answer “stupid” questions later on.

Maggs may have been a little shy and intimidated, but it didn’t help with the hockey question. It’s almost like asking someone how baseball has helped their volleyball game; they’re kinda unrelated. Plus, I really did cringe when Scott asked Maggs to say “eh”. How humiliating. It would be like asking Marcus Mariota to say “da kine”. Ok, enough of that.

I love the emergence of the MMG squad (Pot of gold – mmm mmm good). Those middles have put some power in the wahine attack. When they get that slide going, whew, talk about opening up the OH to single or no blocks! Plus, can you imagine Castillo come blasting in on a pipe attack like TMO does?! Go Bows!
