She has played in too many matches
Disagree about her being ‘a mess.’ she’s not 100 percent and probably won’t be this season.
18. disagree about Iosia being overcoached They took her out against Long Beach to give her a chance to see the game from the bench (think this was in Set 3). was told she needed to go to the middle more.
24. don’t know why it was deleted. some of my comments were as well. Not happy with our server, which has affected the blog and emails.

agree with most of the comments about the passing not allowing the middle to be run.

The RPI is what is it is. And there’s no way for Hawaii to climb back up since they only play lower RPI teams the rest of the way. They were going to drop regardless if they beat Long Beach State or not. The goal is to win the automatic berth.

Shoji did say at practice today (Tuesday they were opening it up at all positions and that they may have some position changes this week.

Not sure why people want her to redshirt. This year is our best opportunity in years. Once Nikki’s graduates, we are in rebuild mode.

The glory days are over, folks. The Power 5 conferences have long surpassed the likes of the Big West. Yes, even Hawaii. So get on with it. When Dave retires, we’ll look back at an era that will never be duplicated at UH in any sport. So enjoy it while it lasts because he’s not getting any younger.

Their libero was outstanding, outplayed ours by miles. Where the match was won for LBSU was in serve receive and back row play, having watched them before I felt their ball control would keep them in a match against Hawaii. On a side note I actually like this LBSU team, they seem to be playing steady team volleyball with no attitudes on the court. I agree with previous comments on Iosia, seems like she’s being over coached. Also, it was obvious that Maglio was frustrated the entire night… Very unfortunate to not show up on the biggest match of the season in conference.

UH had its chances. There were uncharacteristic mistakes as this new lineup was still gelling and sorting itself out. It clearly needed more rep with each other to form the necessary chemistry. Great UH fan support at the pyramid and attendance was the largest I ever saw there. IMO, if this lineup had another week or so together, the outcome would have been different. Was so proud to see how the wahines never gave up and persevere – a very good sign for this newly formed lineup going forward.

think smith or anderson should be placed in place of Granato… when she rotates to the back… then the middles will be set more…
keep mitchem in the middle
between sibbs and castillo on the LS should work out with a bunch of one on one situations…

also think Koelsch should be subbed in when Iosia rotates to the front… as a blocking sub more often.. she was very successfull / instrumetal in last year’s win against the beach…

wished kalei didn’t burn her junior year – and just medically red-shirt this year

pass / receive is always #1 – have to be in system and be able to side out for a high percentage
IMHO

hoping and wishing that they gel come post season and firing off all cyclinders
go BOWS!

How would you rank each each of these attributes for a team to be successful? Would you rank passing number 1, serving 2, etc?

Imho, the number one attribute should be mental, then passing, serving, hitting, blocking.

When you have players that have that something extra, it does tilt the scales, but the presumption is that “all other things being equal”. And in any case, if you don’t play as a team, you likely won’t win.

Casey is a pleasant surprise out there. Need to keep the faith. The LBS libero was playing out of her mind.

Who do you want as the 3rd passer then? We will run out of substitutions if we sub both of our outsides out every time they are in the back row…
