Good information as far as RPI strength lot of research on your part. Tanner’s a rookie D1 head coach and I have my own views of the timing of protocol, respect and realizing the outcome of the other party’s situation by your actions. With that said I’ll leave this topic at rest.

He said he left for summer with one schedule, came back to the office with a schedule that had Hawaii on i.
Don’t know what Tanner was thinking other than matches vs. Pac-12 and MWC teams looked better for the RPI, win or lose.
coming into the week
ASU 19 RK poll, 12 Pablo, 48 RKPI, 19 AVCA
CSU 7 RK poll, 8 Pablo, 14 RKPI, 7 AVCA

Hawaii 24 RK pool, 17 Pablo, 6 RKPI, 25 AVCA

Not that I want to get into overall strength of schedule but Pablo’s highest teams in those conference strength of schedule are:
Big West: Hawaii 17, CSUN 32, LBS 36
MWC: Colorado State 8, Wyoming 57, UNLV 63
Pac-12: Stanford 3, Washington 4, Oregon 5, USC 6, Arizona and UCLA 10, ASU 12 Lowest is Cal at 40

Those were the words that I recall reading somewhere (?).
Pepperdine is on track to be on a win loss record of 10-15 for the season. Current record of 5-7 with losses to Nevada, Oral Roberts, UC Irvine and Idaho. Not exactly top ranked programs. Guess the new head coach didn’t envision his team’s mediocre preseason performance. Anything to boost the program’s RPI I guess, even if it meant cancelling the Hawaii trip.

I guess coach rookie head coach Tanner and staff had visions of more success than they had planned, playing two ranked teams in Arizona St and Colorado St. I don’t know the exact circumstances for their change of schedule but I see it as not a good start for a 1st time head coach to cancel Shoji and UH at the last minute.

Guinasso is not on sand scholarship for 2014-15. if she were, she could not be on the indoor team. She is walking on for both sports this year.
Wong is the associate head coach for indoor. Why wouldn’t he want ‘his’ player staying in shape by playing more indoor?
Again, someone has to stay home. It’s usually been the non-scholarship players. Last year, when 13 often traveled, that meant 5 stayed back, including the redshirts.

61. Thank you. I believe you are right.
In hindsight, I think the Waves would have been happier with the trip here.

Baby G only playing this year and not for the entire season. Baby G on sand scholarship and recruited by Wong. Baby G heavily taped hand. Maybe all these reasons are why she is not on the travel squad and not playing more. If recruited by Shoji and had a scholarship or partial scholarship might be a whole different story. One can see her athleticism and innate reactions are superior than some others. We don’t see the practices and only the game and based only on the games you would choose Baby G.

That other thingy from Ohio State, as I recall from previous year, isn’t very reliable.
