new thread up with Sunday’s scores.

couple of comments.
Manu-Olevao has been voted team co-captain two years in a row. The coaches and players respect her. Agree she has off nights.
Mitchem is the third middle. What will get her more playing time is beating out Maglio, which doesn’t look like it’s happening. Have asked Shoji about moving her to the OH. He said no but with the injury to Greeley they might consider it. However, she is still learning to be a DI middle.

As for the injuries, was told both were feeling better today but that was before X-rays. They tried to get Higgins X-rayed Saturday but were unable to. And they left early Sunday morning. Will know more tomorrow.

Granato seems to have improved from the start of the season, so maybe she can have another shot at Tai’s position.

Has Mitchem been used in practice on the outside? How’s her passing and defense? Hawaii is strong in middle with Magill and Maglio. We are weak at the pins. Tough to keep a 6″3 player, with a heavy arm and a solid block out of the lineup, either in the middle or outside .

If UH passes well watch out for the 3Ms.

Looking at top tier teams, they have 2-3 terminators on the OH front. we have one (1). I think you can guess who that is.

We are writing all of this “stuff” for entertainment. The only opinion that count is the coaching staff, and it is clear what they think of Tai. My first volleyball matches were watching the wahines with Beth McLaughlin take on the US National Team featuring Flo Hyman in two exhibition matches at Klum in 1974 or so. I have continue to go to their matches in person every year since.

I see a girl who tries her best, encourages her teammates, uplifts her team, and leads through her own actions.

In the four conference matches so far, Tai has hit .302 (.368,.316,.333 and .192). Call it what you may – but ESPN3 commentator Brittany Hochevar (Long Beach AA Setter in 2002 and AVP veteran who had partnered with both Misty May and Kerri Walsh) clearly though highly enough of Tai to interview her.
