I don’t know that Wade got an extension. that was Tsai’s blog. don’t remember seeing in the paper. so can’t tell you if it happened after the wins over UCLA
29. Does it matter that Stanley only played 2 years. I’ve know Wilton as long as that too.
28. see MPSF scores thread. if UCLA keeps fading, they’ve lost 5 in a row, UCLA loses the tiebreaker with UH.
you could have seen the UH matches online via livestreaming. something you can do for Pacific as well.

Clay Stanley only played for two years, then left in order to play for the national team. I don’t blame Mike Wilton for not being able to recruit the Shoji brothers and other talented players. He was simply sadly resigned. I had talked with him once about it. I’ve known Mike Wilton ever since he was the women’s volleyball coach at Cal Poly. So I could discuss matters with him personally.

28. I just checked the Trojan website and they beat UCLA in four sets. Now they are ahead three matches. Sounds like chances of making the playoffs are over. So Wade got an extension of two years in his contract. As for disliking Ben Jay, I’m mad that he and Apple extended the contract with OC Sports for six more years and I can no longer watch home games. So I stopped being an avid fan of men’s volleyball and turned to watching BYU. I plan to watch the two matches with BYU in person and my feelings will be split just like watching the women’s matches with Cal Poly. Which means that I’ll be happy for which ever team wins and won’t be sorry for which ever team loses. Sorry I’m a fickle fan, but OC Sports took it out of me regarding UH men’s volleyball. If BYU wins the conference, I’ll be able to watch more volleyball matches even if Hawaii is not in it. As my name says, I’m a volleyball fan, not necessarily a Rainbow Warrior fan. And tonight I watched both matches, BYU and Stanford matches. The latter was more interesting, but the former had much better quality video. So whoever keeps broadcasting freely with the best quality will win my support there. So I’m not too frustrated that UH keeps losing. I can hardly watch them anyway.

(according to Tsai, I haven’t gotten that confirmed).
24 Wilton retired. as for being unable to recruit local talent, I don’t see that as completely true. Clay Stanley comes to mind. That the Hawaii kids who were on the USA JNT chose to all play at Stanford was not his fault.

The Canadian recruit Maar was supposed to be a star but he bailed at the last minute to go to a school in Canada, and then Tuileta switched his commitment to USC on signing day. There was also that setter recruit I forgot his name but he changed his mind at the last minute too.

Stephen Tsai said he signed a 2 year extension. You can argue about the wisdom of that decision, but it’s done and all we can do is support the team.

Officially Wilton retired, but he knew his contract wasn’t going to be renewed.

The one good year he had Umlauft whom Mike Wilton recruited. Since then he hasn’t been able to recruit real volleyball stars. However, Mike Wilton quit, too, on his own volition, perhaps over his frustration in being unable to recruit local talent. I won’t state an opinion on Wade’s future. Let the chips fall come what may.
