The starters have to be leg weary after 3 matches in 4 nights. If need be you can put your starters back in for set four.

Did anyone notice that after Wade got the two year extension, post UCLA matches, that the team went on a 4 match losing streak? Co-incidence or ?

Probably. said that I believed it was 12. I was wrong. They used 13 in the first match at UCSB, 13 against Stanford second night

I believe they travel 14 players unless strange circumstances (like Cal Baptist) limits the number. I would like to see any if the freshmen get an opportunity at significant minutes to allow them to get into the flow of the game. Pacific is such a weak opponent that this was the opportunity to give fans a peak at the future.

Since, I believe, they only took 12 players, who would you have subbed in?

The only way I see them making it is if they split with BYU/Pepp and UCLA keeps losing. But I am afraid that Taylor Sander and Josh Taylor will be eating the Ramos’ block for lunch and UCLA still has to play Cal Baptist twice and Northridge once, that should be three easy wins for them.

Therefore, subs were in for 6 out of total of 132 points played. (Using a 2 libero system accounts for the first 8 players used.) There was no meaningful time for the bench players.

As far as making playoffs, Hawaii has the most difficult road of the 5 teams competing for the last 4 playoff spots. Hawaii has 4 matches left against top 4 teams and an easy match tomorrow night against Pacific. Last year Hawaii luckily got into the playoffs because Cal Baptist was not eligible. While it’s not impossible for the team to make the playoffs thus year, it is highly improbable.

McKellar probably got the most court time>
You don’t know that they won’t make the playoffs. Still a month of vb to be played.

Against Pacific? Kinda an under-whelming win. Feel bad for the bench players who should have gotten an opportunity tonight. Would love to see either of the two assistant coaches stand up to wade and advocate for the B team to get an opportunity instead of sitting on the sidelines quiet. ( so different from other top programs.) It’s like they are afraid to stand up to Wade.. A successful team needs those who will dissent from the head (and the head will accept it) when appropriate and propose alternate solutions/opportunities. Somebody has to start thinking about the future, especially about next year. How to motivate and engage everybody –especially if Hawaii is out of the playoffs. Unfortunately, I think Wade is incredibly stubborn and will run with his starters the whole way. He doesn’t seem to have any relationship with the freshman or a desire to develop them. Come on Wade, take a risk on the future. Ramos, Olsen, and West (sorry Nick) are done. Why are you still playing them? It’s time to run with next year starters… You’ve given Ramos and Olsen enough opportunity.

On saddening note, anyone heard rumors about any of the three UH freshman not returning next year? I was thinking that if the coaching staff doesn’t get in the way, Hawaii should be incredibly strong next year. The team has some great hitters. I like both Mol and Fey to step in next year; should be interesting. With their talent, I think they both could have been starters this year and Hawaii would have been no worse in the rankings. Additionally, Hawaii has an all-american setter sitting in the wings.

Yes, if they all come back, 2015 will be a great year. Kinda resigned to the fact this teem won’t make playoff.s this year. Disappointing!
