match 2? well something happend.

too bad i expected both epic matches at to 4 sets apiece. match 1 set 1 was close. than chinas fire was apparently extinguished in set 2 and in set 3 its almost as though us gave china a little bit of catch up. their ball handling was suspect.

match 2 looked like either us deliberately threw the match or chinas fire reignited and burned brighter while us exhausted their fuel tanks particularly towards set 3.

karsta lowe did well enough on her debut that she started in match 2 (well enough because i think she struggled a little bit).

in match 2 tama started and the arena of course exploded when she was announced. it was the bomb! 😀

Miyashiro just getting back into the gym after surgery and rehab. Should play Saturday

9. mentioned that in first post. link through USAV Cup page

10. Kiraly said he’d mix things up Saturday as he did last year in the USAV Cup.
He wanted to see what his younger players would do which is why he used Lowe and Kreklow. Fawcett was listed on early roster, mentioned that she was replaced due to injury.

They used a double sub a couple of times, keeping the setter out of the front row on some rotations. International rules allows for just six subs and one re-entry if you’re a starter.

If Mitchem and Burns had been able to considered, then it would have been higher.
That the Warriors were able to get a ‘whole bunch’ of players is because they lost a lot from this season. The Wahine had very few openings to fill.

I would say that a couple national championships will be coming our way for sure. 6 of the 9 on the fab 50 list, but it should be 7 because they left out Ben Vaught who is for sure one of the top recruits in the country, plus Austin Matautia coming in next year. I am very excited to see what the next few years are going to be like for the men. Would love to see the Wahine get a whole bunch of top recruits in one year like this.

Bet she gets the first call tomorrow night. It looked like Karch is still evaluating his talent at certain positions, playing a bunch of players who may be locked in to the team like Larson, Akinredewo, etc., with one or two players at time who are still on the cut line. I’m pretty sure that Kreklow would not normally start at setter ahead of Thompson (or Glass, who isn’t here). Fawcett was supposed to be here (listed on an earlier roster), but Murphy came instead. He already knows what Murphy can do; same with Robinson who also did not play tonight. So Lowe got a good look tonight.
