May have been one of the new changes for 2015.
Another being athletes named to the All-Region team will not automatically be named All- American Honorable Mention if they are not named an All-American.

Thus an All-Ameican Team should be players of front row 6 rotation players voted in separate by those who are front row players only. An All-American player of the year if a front row player should be awarded to a 6 rotation player and one who is a 3 rotation player. A 6 rotation player should be the one with the highest accolades.

However they do not have adequate backrow defense or passing which is why they lost as much as they did.

Could it be that the coaches are telling them not to score on the second touch unless necessary?

As someone on this blog already pointed out, not winning doesn’t exclude Shoji from National COY consideration. All conference and region COYs, and all coaches whose team reach this year’s Quarterfinals/Elite 8 (or was that Regionals?) are candidates for National COY.

(The Coaches’ Club is a very inclusive bunch. Lol.)

[Aside: My choice for Pacific South COY was Mick Haley. He led the USC women’s volleyball team from No. 22 [AVCA Preseason Coaches Poll] to No. 2 in the current Coaches Poll. Moreover, the Pac-12 Preseason Coaches Poll picked the Trojans to finish 5th in the final standings. USC ended as co-champs of the Pac-12.]

There’s also been a major rule change. Previously, if a player was picked for Honorable Mention in her region, she would automatically be HM on the AA list. Now, just because a player was selected for HM does not exclude her from consideration for AA 1st, 2nd, or 3rd team. (Indeed, can’t imagine how it would happen but it would be interesting to see a Region HM voted AA First Team. )

Congrats to Taylor and Magill — legit and obvious AAs, but you never know when it comes to Awards.

GO BOWS!

The only time she does a dump is when there is an over pass.

But Kendra is another story. She’s got that OH/OPP hitters mentality.

If we do it a couple of times a set, even if it doesn’t go down, it’s going to freeze PSU’s block and open up the pins.

Just my opinion, Dave.

Thought it was interesting.

Speaking of Penn State, does anyone have suggestions on a past match or two from this season to watch to get prepared? Thank you.
