Wong talked about the expense of recruiting and desire to get to know players and their families as part of the process, not just athletic skills.
Gary also asked about the quality of the pro leagues around the world and asked Wong did he prefer playing pro indoor to pro beach. I don’t remember the answer.

spent a bit of time talking about the sand itself. It’s been mentioned before that UH had to bring in sand for its campus courts. Some schools are using synthetic sand. said he liked deeper sand like 14 inches. it an advantage for the shorter players because bigger players sink deeper into the sand. He joked that rather than spend money to import sand he had thought about taking a bucket every time they were down at Queen’s and bring it back.
Hoped that the four campus courts would be done this summer. Said visiting teams enjoy the playing atmosphere at Waikiki and they will continue to use Queens for tournaments (has more courts) and the campus courts for duals.

Scott is headed for Junior National Championship the last weekend in June , Dave going to Florida for AAU Girls’ Junior National Volleyball Championships June 16-24.

Gary ( I think that’s his name ) asked great questions and a lot of them,only 3 callers that I recall. Scott is a better speaker and communicator than Dave IMO.

Talk a little about Hartong. Expects her to be playing volleyball for a long time in the future but right now needs to rehab from surgery and get stronger. She was in Anahiem in February and trained with USA.
