new thread for Monday.

You guys are too much. .
Shoji did say that the best players will play and that it would be hard for any of the freshmen to break into the starting lineup. He has five starters back, which leads him to feel he has an idea of who he wants in that opening lineup.
But nothing is set. Much will depend on where they plan to play Mitchem, that is if she’s ready to go by next week, and what Manu-Olevao decides. Have to consider unexpected injuries as well.
Btw Mitchem in the srena, getting her physical.

8. Don’t know what you have against Mclachlan’s motivational speaking. He does it for a number of schools, including Stanford and UCLA.
Chapel or whatever you want to call it is optional. It’s not meant as a motivational tool.

“Motivation,” and not necessarily from Chris M. (or from their chapel time) exclusively.

Probably to enhance they making All-American. The downside to that looking back was during post season play his top players seem to not have the energy to sustain their top performance. Fatigue and minor aches and pains? Especially when travel and the amount of games to be played at different locations within a 2-3 week period does exert a lot of energy.

Our coaches have been doing this for a long time so just enjoy the student/athletes who will represent our university and State to the best of their abilities.

UH can’t afford to run a trial and error lineup on game day. Play time is earned in practice – just like every other college sport.

However, he did not say that. I did hear him say that it will be difficult for the freshmen to break into the lineup but that is about it.

How do you know if the yet to be named starters didn’t earn their position based on what the coaching staff saw in practice this past week?

Is he implying that the starters are the best players? After they dropped 2 on the road last year he said no one’s job was safe. I suggest that he establish a rotation at every position and play everyone during the preseason. Players should earn their starting positions!
