So don’t know if your venting will get seen. But your points are valid.

The bottom line is the ACC has never won an NCAA title in volleyball despite the NCAA selection committee trying to make it happen (like with the SEC) with putting so many teams in the tournament.
The coaches poll is a popularity contest. If you look at the Top 25 in the RPI: ACC has 3 teams in there. Pac-12 has 7, Big Ten 4, Big 12 5.

Just because they were historically weak and are having a good year this year doesn’t make them THE premier. Its comparable to stating when the old WAC football had Hawaii and Boise State ranked in the Top 15 that they were THE premier conference in the NCAA, and justifying (and repeating) that on the grounds that they were having such a banner year compared to past years. The then Pac-10, SEC, Big-12, ACC, and Big-10 were still better as a whole- at the very top itself and also top to bottom.

Part of original post was “The ACC is the premier conference this year (in women’s volleyball).” (Right before, they stated that the Pac-12 and Big-10 might have 6 teams each in the NCAAs.) Apparently, because as they followed, this is their (ACC) best year with 2 top 10 and another top 20 team. I pointed out about how the Pac-12 and Big-10
have as much teams in the Top 10 and much more in the lower part of the Top 25 rankings (Pac-12- 7, Big-10- 3). I also stated that by writing ‘THE’ premier would give the impression as the best (alone) say versus ‘A’ premier . A person (the site poster?) replies @Robin, justifying they (ACC) is THE premier conference this year restating that are having such historically strong year for their conference. Not arguing that they should have more ranked teams, they are stronger than the nation realizes, etc. I said what does conference history have to do with being ‘THE premier’ in all of volleyball? I get an angry reply from the husband? (same last name) of the poster, telling me to take a chill pill again stating the ACC is THE premier conference. I reply sincerely “do you know what the definition of ‘premier’ is?” (Definition: First in status.) Because based on their replies it really doesn’t appear they do. I also state that it appears they just don’t want to admit they might have used inappropriate terminology. I also ask this person if they are the husband of the site poster. Then I get a notice that I am being banned from the site for “personal attacks” and “low blows”. Brah, you keep telling me I am wrong (and I strongly believe I am not, I goin keep on with the argument). Bottom line, they edited their text to state “ONE of the premier, from THE premier” conference(s). If you are right, why did you edit it then?
Well, UH Wahine Volleyball Facebook site person, you are free do respond. I can’t defend myself from charges of ‘low blows’ and ‘personal attacks’ because I can’t post there anymore.

They’ve done it this way for decades. sometimes they go redeye, sometimes they go afternoon 2 days before. never ceases to amaze how people can find something negative in everything. It’s not like they are playing the same day as they get there. It’s not like they’re traveling to Louisiana Tech.

They’ve taken 14 because they’ve taken 14. They took 15 because they took 15. Nothing dubious, nefarious, conspiratorial.

Do they really need 5 DSs when only 3 or 4 usually play in a match? No but this way prepares everyone for postseason as a team.

4. Football makes money. Volleyball makes some. All the programs have been asked to do their part in helping with the deficit, which wouldn’t exist if the athletic department was allowed to keep the money it generates, particularly from parking fees, signage at Aloha Stadium, concessions.

5. Koelsch will be a front-row sub for Higgins. there will be no double-sub now that Passi is not with the team.

8. never said the move to the left for Taylor was a given. But they are looking at options.

9. & 10. thank you. Hawaii won in 4 against UCSB here.

Why try to fix/change something that is not broken? Traveling on Wednesday instead of Tuesday was a miscalculation; moving Nikki to the left will lose the match and any post season aspirations.
